This is a comforting mac 'n cheese that is cooked slowly in a crock pot. It is rich and creamy.
Ingredients: 1 lb elbow macaroni. 4 cups shredded cheddar cheese. 2 cups milk. 1 can 12 oz evaporated milk. 1/2 cup butter, melted. 1/4 cup all-purpose flour. 1 tsp salt. 1/2 tsp black pepper.
Instructions: Follow the directions on the box to cook the macaroni. Then, drain it and set it aside. Melt the butter and mix it with the flour in a bowl until the mixture is smooth. This makes a roux. Put half of the cooked macaroni and half of the cheese in the slow cooker. Add more layers with the rest of the macaroni and cheese. Make a roux and pour it over the mac and cheese in the slow cooker. Add the milk, evaporated milk, salt, and pepper to a different bowl and mix them together. Then, pour the milk mixture over the macaroni mixture in the slow cooker. Slow-cook on low for two to three hours, until cheese melts and sauce gets thick. Before serving, stir it up well. Have fun!
