Meteor was extremely excited. He lived for these kinds of events. Holidays were his favorite parts of the year, so now that he had a chance to spend it with Cael, he tried his best to convince him to participate. Sadly, he hadn't been able to convince him to put the dragon costume... yet. But they were here.
"Isn't this exciting? Look at all the happy kids! And even the adults are cheerful! Oh! We should get some cookies... But they won't give you some if you're not wearing your costume..." Maybe that would finally convince the other... Additionally, Meteor was using his warrior costume, wouldn't he want to join him on the fun and treats?
no, this wasn’t exciting— this was something else: something weird, something annoying, something exhausting and definitely was not as enjoyable as meteor was desperately trying to make it seem so. in fact, it was everything that cael avoided. the punishing noises of all sounds coming crashing down in waves and waves of vibration hurt his hearing; the ungodly smell of sweaty bodies and dirts and everything in between were upsetting his stomach— he was certain ratatoskr wasn’t too pleased either, given how her growl was rumbling in the back of his head; and the myriad costumes— oh, the nyriad costumes were the worst of it all.
people from all walk of life were adorning strange garments— so strange as that he refused to comprehend why they were brave enough to brace such... bizarre oddity and proudly showing it off to be perceived by the public eyes. these people, the selfsame people who had spent years and years to ward off the so-called monsters, to destroy what they did not fully understand and were reluctant to accept the truth, unable to co-exist, were now wearing the skin of the very monsters they despised. to flaunt their victory, perhaps? or to declare their shameless dominance that was earned by unjust violence, and was achieved through immoral means, he wondered. even meteor was donning something, he didn’t know... but if it was meteor, cael supposed there was at least a reason. surely?
and surely the reason was not for some miserable cookies... surely. cael stared at meteor. surely. ‘ ...and why would i want some cookies? ’ he finally said after a good minute of silence.
