THESE WORDS CAME AS A SURPRISE, NOT THAT REX WAS UNAWARE OF HIS GENERAL'S KINDESS ... But this was different, and to say he wasn't sure what to make of it was certainly an understatement. He wasn't even sure why he came here to begin with, why he let himself be dragged to a Cantina when there was still a lot to do for their upcoming campaign as well as some drills to put the shinies through.
As the captain, Rex was the one who had to go through with these and while he wasn't one to complain, it took a lot of patience and there were times when he didn't have any. Like tonight. Must be why he was there instead of doing actual work. Considering that he was around the Jedi though, he could easily say it was part of the plan, if anyone ended up asking him. No one actually could, well other than commander Cody. Hopefully, this wasn't something that would go up to him.
Sighing, the clone finally nodded before sitting back down onto his tool. " Just one drink, General. " He was quite a lightweight too, to his embarrassment so it was best not to tempt his luck a little too much. " Your presence here is a surprise. " Not that he knew much about Jedi, or even Anakin as a person outside of war but it was a rare sight still.
Anakin had caught Rex’s presence nearly from the moment he entered the bar, then spotted the familiar face soon after. He’d sent him a grin in greeting, before approaching to lean casually and easily against the bar. A mirthful melange of melodic instruments played an upbeat tune in the background, making a stark contrast to his Captain’s rather tiresome features.
“What, just because I’m a General I’m not allowed to have fun?” Anakin retorted, tone playful as he flagged the bartender to grab them a couple of drinks. “Fine, just the one—get us two spicebrews?” He was in the mood for something that actually tasted kind of nice.
Something weighed briefly at the back of his head. General.
He had the temptation to tell him it was not necessary, not out here, except he knew that Rex would insist on addressing him by rank regardless. “What are you doing here, anyway? I’m not used to seeing you out except at 79s,” he said. And that was usually to celebrate one victory or another.
