Mactan

Um 10:00 Uhr habe ich den Bus nach Cebu genommen, da mich alle gewarnt haben, nicht später zu fahren, weil dann „a lot of traffic“ sei. Tatsächlich sind wir ganz gut durchgekommen und ich war schon gegen Eins in Cebu. Vom Terminal brauchte ich ein Taxi auf die Cebu City vorgelagerte Insel Mactan mit der Großstadt Lapu Lapu, wo auch der Flughafen ist. Vor mir in der Schlange war eine ältere Dame und ich hörte nur Mactan, also habe ich sie gefragt, ob wir uns das Taxi teilen könnten. Es hat eine ganze Weile gedauert, bis sie eingewilligt hat. So hatte ich ein Taxi für 100 Peso und sie 100 Peso gespart. Das nennt man Win Win Situation und ich verstehe nicht, wie man so lange brauchen kann, das zu begreifen. Die letzten 800 Meter bin ich gelaufen und unterwegs habe ich noch ein paar leckere Pfannkuchen sehr billig kaufen können. Im Hotel gibt es einen Innen-Pool! Ich bin erstmal ins Shopping Center gelaufen, habe aber nix gekauft und bin dann gleich in den Pool gehüpft. Da ein gut gefüllter Kühlschrank an der Bar neben dem Pool stand, war der Tag gerettet. Ich habe mit Erik und Rune eine ganze Weile gevideochattet (siehe Tag 150) und den Pool ganz für mich alleine gehabt. Das Bier aus dem Kühlschrank habe ich dann am nächsten Tag bezahlt. Ich habe auch meine weitere Reise geplant und werde nun nach Taiwan wieder nach Vietnam gehen. Wie lange ich dort sein werde, weiß ich noch nicht, aber am 4.1.23 fliege ich von Taipeh nach Hanoi und werde mich dann eher dem mittleren Teil Vietnams widmen.

Und nun die Preisfrage: wie soll ich nach Chile kommen? Dort will/muss ich sowieso hin, um Silvia und Julio zu besuchen. Das ist fest eingeplant. Aber die Frage ist, wie komme ich da hin. Ich bitte um aktive Abstimmung für die Variante 1 oder 2! Und hier sind sie:

Variante 1 - sechs Wochen Vietnam, eine Woche Tokio, eine Woche Hawaii, eine Woche San Francisco und von dort nach Santiago de Chile ODER

Variante 2 - zwei bis vier Wochen Vietnam, zwei bis vier Wochen Indonesien, drei Wochen Südinsel Neuseeland und dann von Auckland nach Santiago de Chile.

Die Flugpreise nehmen sich nicht viel, aber die Aufenthalte in V1 sind sehr sicher viel höher als die in V2.

Mactan Island-Hopping Adventure for just a Day!

Possible islands to visit:

Gilutongan Island – A 20 to 30 minutes away from Mactan Island and a perfect place to do scuba diving and snorkeling activities. You should never miss this island for your Mactan Island Hopping since this is the perfect place for every scuba diver alike.

Nalusuan Island - Nalusuan is actually a hectare long manmade island resort located in the Cebu Strait which is one of the islands included amongst the Olango Island Group found between Bohol and Mactan Island (part of Cebu). The area used to be a sandbar which later underwent land reclamation in order to build the Nalusuan Island Resort. Good for diving and snorkeling.

Caohagan Island - Caohagan is a small yet popular island-hopping destination which is also part of the Olango island chain. It is about 30 minutes away from Mactan. The island also boasts of a lush forest, marine life for snorkeling, and a lagoon with crystal clear water for swimming.

Sulpa Island – Is one of the six satellite islands of Olango Island Group. It is a privately-owned island but uninhabited by people. Sulpa Island is just a small island and perfect for family swimming and camping is allowed there. Not suitable for diving.

San Vicente Island - The entire island is an oasis, full of mangrove forests and a bird sanctuary. Perfect destination for snorkeling activity. You can see a lot of different species of fish and beautiful corals too.

Pandanon Island - Pandanon Island is famous for its long stretch of white sands, which is great for lazing around and sunbathing. Not far from the island edge is a long, narrow sandbar. The island is perfect for family swimming through its white sand beaches with shallow waters and cottages you can rent. A sand bar which extends to a nearby island is also an attraction along with local cogon grass products. Unlike other islands, Pandanon has no place for diving activities. Also make sure Pandanon is included on your Mactan Island Hopping itinerary so you won't miss such beautiful island in Mactan.

just returned from diving in mactan, where i logged my 33rd dive AND a ton of firsts! 1. first dive beyond 40m 2. first time entering deco 3. first night drift 4. first weightless dive i keep telling everyone aow was the best thing for me cos my skills & confidence increased 1000 fold after, and compared to malapascua where i had shite buoyancy, in mactan i was relaxed and able to look at stuff from all directions. can’t wait for my next dive trip :)
