You know what's complete bullshit?

MacType.

Its website is almost completely useless.

"The way texts should be"? Really? You're just saying that without any explanation? No screenshots?

Literally the only things here are a download, a Github link, and what nothing indicates gives you a QR code to donate with. This is a bullshit site. Even endless.horse has more value than this.

No, no. All the information available is on the project's Github, and even then the first thing you see — readme.md — has no immediately relevant info either. You need the wiki for that, also on Github.

And then on the wiki you still don't get a simple answer to "what is this thing anyway and what difference does it make?"

Go ahead. Change my mind.

No but seriously. Literally the only reason I knew MacType is not like... a text editor of some sort but a Windows font rendering thing is because Better ClearType Tuner suggests using MacType if BCTT isn't enough for you. And what Better ClearType Tuner is... is real obvious. The name is self-explanatory, the readme explains it well enough, and there's a screenshot. 10/10 no comments.

Change Windows fonts to System San Francisco

- download all files from here - install fonts (right click -> install) - install & run MacType - setting Mactype to run in the registry, click "add profile" on the next page and select the oxford.ini

tested on Windows 10 x64 (Build 10240)

How to disable DirectWrite on Firefox?

I wish there was a way to turn off DirectWrite so that MacType can overwrite the text on it. That's the only thing I don't like about Firefox. I have to deal with this ugly ClearType text, and if I disable ClearType on my system then the font is just pixely instead (probably a better choice than ClearType). Something about Firefox keeping MacType from messing with it. But this seems to apply to applications on XULRunner, because even ChatZilla (standalone) uses ClearType instead of letting MacType mess with it. I have messed with about:config and nothing works, but something should work right?
