Metalheads Redux is a diverse and dynamic group of artists involved in the Metalsmithing and Jewelry fields based out of Portland, Maine.  The group was started three years ago by Maine College of Art alumna Holly Gooch, who desired a continued connection with fellow graduates.  The exhibit brings a taste of diverse and dynamic work of many members of the group as well as “Dollar Menu” of fun “Fast Craft” items to purchase.  The exhibit will be on display for the month of August.

Working on new ideas....

A brief update….I’ve been working on an idea for fully customizeable crochet thread flower jewelry and accessories for an installation at the Maine Center for Craft in Gardiner Maine. It goes up on August 3rd. It involves many many flowers of different sizes shapes and colors that are stackable. Also are simple inexpensive fasteners that can double as an adjustable ring for an adult or adjustable bracelets and rings for a child or hair elastic. I am also making blanks for inexpensive barrettes and pins as well as more involved sterling silver ring and bracelet blanks that the fasteners and flowers can be used with. This has turned out to be quite the complicated endeavor but I think I may be onto something. It allows for prices to range from extremely inexpensive for a cute, simple piece for a child to higher for a more complicated, multilayered piece or allow one to have a pin one day, a ring the next, and a bracelet the next. If the project goes well at the center then I will be extending it to Etsy. Pictures to come. Any input is surely welcome. :)
