Featured on The Daily Star
My research that I presented at the Multilingualism Across Disciplinary Borders conference poster session was featured in The Daily Star today. Here is a link to the article. [article] Here is a link to a summary of my research thus far: [research]
My final map for the MAD conference today.
My 3G ran out while I was getting my last set of data, so this is what I've got. Still, the amount of pins I have for the amount of time I did it in is pretty good. It is enough to draw some preliminary conclusions.
I have made my map public. Here is the link. [click]
Update on Click2Map program...
1) As I mentioned in the last post, there was some glitch that made me lose the data of marks 13-17. 2) Now, I have the map published online and am editing it through the web app. I am trying to do the simple task of changing the colors of the pins. Notice how it instead doubles the pins! However, this is still the best mapping app for phones that I have found.
I'm going to transcribe these onto Google maps now, hopefully that will be easier to work with in this stage of the process.
Today I walked around Hamra with this great app called Click2Map which allows me to make pin points with photos and descriptions using my phone’s GPS. Tonight I’ll transcribe these into something more legible for the conference.
Here is a link to the published version: [here] It seems that Markers 13-17 somehow glitched and have no information. Good thing I gave myself an extra day tomorrow to work on it! Anyway, this is just a draft of what I came up with after one day of walking around Hamra. If you click the pinpoints, some of them have photos, others simply a title. I wasn't always able to take photos because I'm uncomfortable with making the people/strangers around me uncomfortable ;-)
This is the link to the Google Analytics.
(I will close the form Sunday night.)
Feel free to review the responses, though! Now that I have reached the 100 benchmark, I have made them open to the public.
Goal reached!
Thanks everyone!
I have reached my goal of 100 responses (for my survey on languages in Beirut neighborhoods).
If anyone has any advice on using Google Docs for sorting through data, let me know. Any and all tips are welcome (this Discus thing should be working).
I'll keep this page updated as I continue with this project.
