It was still early in the evening when Maddox was on his way home. He’d just been at the gym and planned on spending some time at home before heading off to one of the nearby bars. As he turned the corner, a tension went through his entire body, and then a soft, far-away whimper met his ears. It was an omega, obviously in some sort of trouble. Maddox quickly jogged to the next street over, seeing two figures as he came closer.
“Hey!” He called out, aggression clear in his voice. Maddox could tell now that it was an alpha and the omega that he’d heard. The omega was clearly scared, the scent filling his nose. He wasn’t usually one to interfere, but right away Maddox knew that he wanted this one for himself. “Get your hands off of him,” he growled, finally closing in.
“I said move!” The other alpha was barely given a chance to react before he had swung forward, hitting him hard in the jaw. The alpha turned, seething at Maddox but looking like he wasn’t exactly interested in continuing the fight. Begrudgingly, he spat out before leaving the scene and leaving Maddox alone with the poor omega.
“Hey,” he said, voice softer as he neared the boy. “Are you alright? Did he hurt you?” Maddox wanted to reach out, but he held himself back, not wanting to scare the boy more. “He’s gone now, you’re okay.”
