3rd time seeing Kano live, shorter set this time but didn’t stop him from bringing the bars! With posters and advertisement advising that this would be a Grime night bringing 15 years of Grime into one night. I was anticipating a full on Grime overload through the night. However, I soon came into realisation that this was not going to be the case till the end. With DJ Jack getting things off and running, he was able to infuse both Grime and dubstep tunes to bring something different to the table. This was brought with the odd whipping excursion to liven up the crowd, before the first Grime artist hit the stage. Elf Kid, an up and coming Grime act next up on the stage to finally give us that Grime that we have been waiting for. First off, who ever Elf Kid's hype was needs a round of applause. He has been checking out the art of being a hype man, able to get the crowd pumped up and vibe with elf Kid throughout his performance. Even though his set was only short lived, the tracks chosen was real crown please and with the addition of the reveal of a new track also. In between, Elf Kid and Kano they team who put this together really made a big mistake. I am not sure, if this was die to Chip dropping out on short notice, but having a DJ that was playing a majority of hip hop songs was not ideal. I was hoping and expecting that I would be going down memory lane or keeping up to date with the new Grime tracks. To then hear, whatever hip hop song is popping at the moment was a real kick in the teeth. However, this was all about to change as DJ Logan Sama entered the stage with Kano momentarily following him on. This is where the night to a turn in the right direction. Initially from the electric and grimey performance Kano gave to Logan Sama continuing the Grime feels. During Kano's set, he was able to mix it up from his previous performances sitting a fire freestyle mid way, leaving the crowd speechless. To bringing on Deamon, who set the mic and whole show on flames. He might not spit on the mic much recently but the flow came off so effortlessly, to erupt the crowd into a frenzy. So as a whole, I was disappointed with the event planners and lack of Grime as advised. However, as the Grime scene saviour for the night Kano and DJ Logan Sama entered it moved the night back on top. If you can look out for more of Kano touring and Logan Sama on the radio. Stay tuned.
