The Howard Family; 1889

William and Madeline Howard own a farm near the shores of Brindleton Bay, working hard the entire year in order to raise enough money for their children’s futures. All William wants is for a son to take over the farm in the future, but Madeline is secretly clinging onto hopes for something greater for her children.

Madeline’s second child was born during a thunderstorm in august.

I’m actually kind of mad about this, because I thought I owned Sense and Sensibility and Sea Monsters but it turns out that is my mother’s book and not mine. Oh well. It worked out pretty well with The Hidden Stars.
