When Mercy has upgraded technology like televisions, projectors, VCRs, computer monitors, etc. what happens to them?
Do you have full knowledge of where our laptops go after you dispose of them (such as loners or old staff computers that cannot be used)?
Are our laptops and their parts recycled or thrown out?
On average, how many computers do we have a year that need to be replaced with new ones?
What is E-Waste?
E-Waste, or "electronic waste" is pollution from electronics like computers, cell phones, iPods, DVD players, televisions, gaming devices, etc. When these items are disposed of and taken apart, they contain chemicals that are toxic that is bad for the environment, the atmosphere and overall just not a good thing for us to be ingesting. Such as lead and mercury is not good for our bodies to be exposed to. This tech trash also fills up space that is needed. A lot of the e-waste from the USA goes to third world countries and causes a lot of deaths and diseases. What needs to happen is, have recycling technology be easy, safe, and environmentally friendly not just for us, but for the whole world.
