7 Most Annoying Subway Riders
If you’ve been on an NYC subway, you’ve definitely encountered these rare and unusual beings. These are the 7 worse subway riders and when you see them, you just can’t help but cringe:
Makeup Artist
The amount of makeup a woman can put on her face while not fully moving her arms, amazes me. I think the a golden rule for makeup should be: “If you didn’t have time before leaving your house, then don’t bother.” I rather see her worn out face than have to sit next to her while she brushes away all of the unwanted powder onto my black clothes. Besides, no one wants to see her transformation from zombie to human.
The Germ-Un-Phob
Anyone who sneezes, coughs, touches their nose or eyes can definitely keep to themselves. From all the diseases nowadays, I do not want to risk it. Anyone who touches any bodily fluids and then attempts to touch the pole has a special place in germ-hell. Keep your germs to yourself please.
The Creepster
The creepy guy across from me trying to have an eye staring contest. I am not trying to compete with. Any eye contact at all will result in immediate unwanted conversation or deeper staring. Either one would be horrible as I still have 30 minutes to go until I get off. He can defeinitely win that staring battle. I’ll be sitting here fake sleeping.
The Hair Strangler
The woman or man who wants to comb his/her long luxurious (sometimes fake) hair from the top of his/her cranium down to their split ends. I do not need a head of hair on my new black pants! These people make me wonder that if they were animals they’d have hairballs for days.
The Unstable Patient
Mental patients who yell because somewhere in their world they misunderstood quietly listening to music as a threat. Leaving you thinking…“Please get to my stop quickly, I do not want to be here when this man has a meltdown.” These are the scariest people because you never know when they will snap but you know they will.
The Entertainer
The dancing kids who almost yank your face off with their fresh Nikes but then proceed to ask for money. Leaving you thinking.. Do they make a lot of money? Should I learn how to hip hop dance and travel the subway with my hip-hop dancing crew called “Stand Clear of Dancing Feet.” Where are their parents? Can they even play basketball?
The Sweat Swimmer
The guy who comes into the train with a shirt full of sweat and stands right by you in an attempt to drown you in his manly fluids. I can hardly swim so I’d probably drown in disgust too. He then proceeds to become the creepster and stare at you because he definitely thinks he’s a hot piece of beef cake but little does he know that he’s more like a barf cake.
These are only a few of the most annoying subway riders. We see them everyday and though we are used to the stench, craziness, and slowness, these are people we just sometimes can’t ignore. They stand out amongst the crowd and always make us be a little more aware. _Madelyn Josephine
Montreal - The Underrated City
I recently visited the city of Montreal and what a gem it was. I’ve always heard that it was beautiful but it is definitely underrated. The different neighborhoods make you feel alive in different ways.
Old Montreal gives you a nostalgic feeling. Looking at and admiring old architecture is humbling. It makes you appreciate history in a different way. Visiting Mile End was breathtaking with all of its hippie filled restaurants and properties. The creative juices are everywhere here and it gives a new meaning to art. Of course, there were a bunch of neighborhoods where teens roamed around hammered and loudly expressed their drunk love for each other. And though it is annoying to be around groups of drunk 18 year olds, it does help you reminisce on the old college days when partying and drinking made you feel excited and invincible,
The best way to admire the city is to bike through it. The city is so functional that bike riding is incorporated into most of their everyday necessities. The streets, metro, and even parking meters were coupled with some type of biking passageway or lock stand. The city is very fit and always on the go. However, being a New Yorker, you never feel rushed as when I am home.
You can’t go to Montreal without tasting their famous poutine, bagels, smoked meat, or maple syrup. I made sure I tried each one in traditional Montreal style. I loved the maple syrup so much I made sure to sneak some in with me back into the US. I will be making pancakes and bacon for the next 2 months. _Madelyn Josephine
