[COVERAGE] #MADEVIPTOUR 161001 BIG BANG’S MADE [V.I.P] TOUR IN MALAYSIA 2016, CELEBRATING 10TH ANNIVERSARY WITH FANS

South Korea’s internationally-renowned boy group, BIG BANG, once again was back in Malaysia for the third time after a year for 2016 MADE [V.I.P] TOUR, as well as celebrating the group’s 10th anniversary since debuted in 2006. After a three-year hiatus from group activities to release and promote their own materials, Big Bang made their comeback by releasing special ‘project singles’ for their album [MADE: "M," "A," "D," and "E’]. With every singles occupying all the charts and award shows, the group embarked on the critically acclaim and commercially successful MADE World Tour to promote their singles.
Several projects were executed to commemorate the group's 10th anniversary and this year tour is one of the planned projects. While some of the tours in other countries were postponed, cancelled and re-scheduled, at the end of August, founded company of the group, YG Entertainment announced that Malaysia was added to the list of the countries that the tour will visit.
The fan-meeting tour was held on the 1st October at Stadium Negara, Kuala Lumpur and fans of the group, also known as V.I.Ps, were flooding the venue from early in the morning, even camping a day before to meet with the all-around talented group. More than 30,000 VIPs were filling in the stadium starting 7.00PM, enjoying themselves, singing and dancing along to the music videos of the group that were played on the big screens while waiting for the concert to start.
At 7.45PM, the MC of the night introduced herself and gave a little bit of briefing about the fan meeting before giving the cue for the long awaited group, Big Bang, to come out on stage. Lights were dimmed, yellow-crown light sticks were held up thus coloring the darkness and screams were heard as the group members, G-Dragon (Kwon Ji-Yong, 28), Tae-Yang (Dong Young-Bae, 28), Dae-Sung (Kang Dae-Sung, 27) and Seung-Ri (Lee Seung-Hyun, 26), walked out from behind the stage to greet thousands of their fans. Member T.O.P (Choi Seung-Hyun, 29) however was not able to come because of his other schedule. “Apa khabar (how are you) Malaysia? What’s up? Thank you for coming here tonight! Aku cinta padamu (I love you) Malaysia, terima kasih (thank you)!” were heard as they greeted all of the fans before introducing themselves one by one. Applauses were heard throughout the stadium and they cannot hide their happy faces, overwhelmed by the fans’ enthusiasms. Before the night getting hotter with upcoming performances of the group’s most famous numbers, the members showed their team works and spirits while playing some games. The groups were decided by picking draws, thus resulting on orange (Tae-Yang & Dae-Sung) and white (G-Dragon & Seung-Ri) teams. The games played were; transferring ping-pong balls from a bowl to another using straw, pulling ribbons under upside-down bottles without make it fall, and, they also needed to guess an object placed between their cheeks while they were blindfolded. The members’ cheekiness and playfulness were shown in the entire game sections as how they reacted to their winning and losing points, how they cheated in order to win and how devastated they felt when things were not going as they planned. It was a close call as all the members really did their best at playing the games but the winning team members were G-Dragon and Seung-Ri from the white team. Seung-Ri shouted out loud “He’s the man!” to his partner, G-Dragon, as he gained most of the points for their teams. Tae-Yang from the losing team however asked “Hey Seung-Ri. You said it was easy?” questioning Seung-Ri’s statement on the beginning of the segment that the games were easy to him. To that he replied “Life is not that easy”, resulting laughter from the fans and also the other members.
After that, the members prepared 5 boxes filled with signed Big Bang’s bears, the Krunk, and also signed polaroid pictures for some lucky fans, who numbers were draws by the members themselves. A video were played on the screen as the members need to pick a fan who imitated the members the best. From hairstyles, outfits, facial expressions to their dance moves, Big Bang members had great time watching themselves, being cosplay-ed by the fans, before returning to the backstage to prepare themselves for their performances.
Some previews of tours on other countries were shown to the fans before the familiar intro of ‘Loser’ was heard and Big Bang members were out on the stage once again. It is the first single from MADE Series and M, it’s remarked the first music release for the band since 2012. The atmosphere gets more heated when they performed the best-selling single in South Korea for 2015 and also the third single from MADE Series and the first from A, “Bang Bang Bang”. This song received praises from fans, public and also critics. Producer Yang Hyun-Suk also commented that the song would be the most powerful music you have ever heard before and he was right because the fans felt their hearts beating fast along with the music. All of the fans and also the members are pumped up and enjoyed their moments, singing and dancing along to the music.
G-Dragon asked “Are you guys having fun? It's good to be back!” to which the fans responded with equal joys. Then, they toned the atmosphere down with slow ballad song from the fifth single from MADE Series, and the first from D, "If You" is their saddest song ever and it will touch you emotionally. With the lights were dimmed off, and spotlights were shots towards each members, the fans embraced the emotions projected by the bits of the sad lyrics and music. But it all disappeared when they performed “Bad Boy” from their ALIVE EP album, before going to the backstage once again.
The next performances started shortly after and it was solo and duo performances by the members. Member Seung-Ri performed his sexy solo song “Strong Baby”, Dae-Sung brought laughter as he performed a trot song “Look At Me, Gwi-Soon”, Tae-Yang continued the solo stage with “Eyes, Nose,Lips” while G-Dragon turned the volume up with “Crooked”. After that, G-Dragon and Tae-Yang showed the fans what it was like to be a “Good Boy” with their duo performance.
All the members get back on stage for “Sober”, the sixth single from MADE Series, and the second from D. The rock and funky side of this song is different from what they used to make, resulting the fans to fall deeper into their music. Then, it was time to loosen up with “Bae Bae”, the second single from MADE Series and M. It was amazing how they worked their talents by blending bad-boy hip hop with emotional boy-band melodies and it came out awesomely. The final song brought the fans to a party mood, “We Like 2 Party”, was the fourth single from MADE Series, and the second from A.
Applauses and cheers were heard as soon as the song finished and Big Bang members greeted the fans for the last time one by one. G-Dragon asked “How are you guys feeling? The show is almost over.” The fans chanted for them, and G-Dragon get very emotional, thus did not managed to finish his speech as he was on the brink of tears. Tae-Yang announced that “We will come back with a new album. Until then, please continue to support us!” while Dae-Sung said “I love you Malaysia!” .Finally, Seung-Ri asked the fans to chant his name one more time before saying “Malaysia is a fantastic country and KL is an amazing city! We're going to come back soon. I promise!”
Big Bang members said that they are working on their new album and they will be back again soon. They kept on thanking and sending their loves to the fans before performing their encore song “Fantastic Baby” before disappearing to the back stage, leaving the fans with various emotions. The concert ended beautifully and successfully.
