His heart raced and his breathing was laboured, but Salem’s words made him calm him some. The dream was so vivid it felt almost real… no matter how much he trashed around or how loud he yelled, his father kept pointing the gun, smirking cruelly. When the shot rang, Donovan had bolted upright in the bed, looking to his side to see if Salem was really there, with him.
“It was…” he gulped, still breathing harsh and fast, eyes wild. “It felt so… it felt so real….” without further explanation, Donovan maneuvered them so Salem was on his lap and his arms were around Sal’s waist, hugging him tight. “I-I though I lost you.”
Salem felt Donovan start thrashing and he immediately knew it was a nightmare of sorts. He’s had them before and he did what his brother did for him one time. He rubbed Donovan’s back and whispered in his ear to softly wake him up. However it seemed something in his dream woke his boyfriend so he sat up as well.
“You didn’t lose me at all. I’m right here, Donovan... I’ll always be right here.” Salem settled on his thighs and leaned down to kiss his forehead. His hands rubbed at his shoulders to relieve tension and knots he could feel in his muscles. “Do you want me to get you a glass of water? It might help.”
