So, I totally had to reread the whole fic to answer these, but it was better than I’d remembered. (Linking to AO3 to get some traffic over there . . . shameless!) Thank you for being ‘greedy;’ it was fun to think back on how this fic came together. :D

2: what scene did you first put down?

Well, it was from a prompt that captured my imagination, so I thought about what would Rae and Finn be doing that had a split shift, and how would it work itself out. I did a lot of outlining in my head, but I believe it was the image of Rae trying to sleep at a coffee shop table that sparked it, so once I sat down to type letters on a screen, I sort of wrote it pretty linearly. 

(Also, I didn’t quite finish the brief, so if anyone else wants to write their own version with smut included, feel free!)

3: what's your favorite line of narration?

Mmmmmaybe this paragraph? 

“Finn grins around the teeth biting the corner of his lip. It feels like he’s cleared a hurdle, or … something. No, more like he’s turned the key in a lock, but he had to make that key from scratch and hope that it worked.”

4: what's your favorite line of dialogue?

This little exchange still tickles me:

“Sorry I’m late, Finn.”

“No worries. You’re bang on time, actually.”

“That’s late for me.”

“Well …” He’s not sure what to say at that. “ … don’t let it happen again?”

5: what part was hardest to write?

Tempted to say the whole thing, bc it was a very different style for me. I was trying to be as succinct as possible, even leaving out things I liked, to get to the heart of the thing. I think the part with Stuart was hard, because I didn’t know how far to take it. I’ve known roommates like that, and they can be brutal when their fellow tenant brings someone home. So, I gave him something to do, and I don’t know how well it worked. But he HAD to be there, to be the next stumbling block. Anyhow, that part, probably. :)
