This is the scene that is briefly referenced in the story. I would have loved to include it, but I didn’t want the chapter to drag.
Maddy knew with absolute certainty that there was no way she was going to survive the day on so little sleep, so she had taken matters into her own hands. The moment that Mrs. Howard had finished giving instructions, the gymnast had asked if she could work in the library alone, and to her delight, her teacher was completely fine with the idea. The lightning ninja had proceeded to grab her sweatshirt and her history book (hey, she had to make it look convincing) and went to the study room in the farthest back corner of the library. It was tucked back near the shelves of encyclopedias and rarely disturbed. Maddy had flipped the lights off, shut the door, turned her sweatshirt into a makeshift pillow, and she was dead to the world in less than thirty seconds. Maddy had enough common sense to set an alarm on her phone for before class ended. She was unexpectedly awakened by someone suddenly flicking the overhead lights on in the room. It was enough to startle her awake, and she jerked up, whacking her head on the underside of the table. “Ow, what gives?” The gymnast asked irritatedly, rubbing her now-aching forehead. She scooted out from under the table to face the intruder, only to find Danny smirking down at her. “Sorry to disturb you Sleeping Beauty, but Mrs. H is handing back assignments and sent me to get you.” Her classmate informed her. “You’re a lifesaver.” Maddy grumbled. “A real hero.”
