Guys, guys! I asked Madison Mclaughlin (that's Krissy) a question a few days ago and I've just noticed she responded, yay! She is so lovely :)
I was asking about whether she thought Krissy was attracted to Dean or to Aiden, since that was a debate a while back (although it was also something of an attempt to clarify whether she was playing Krissy as attracted to Aiden or not during the 'he's like a brother' line ;p)
She's pretty clear on how she was acting Krissy's feelings about Dean I think: Krissy and Dean are definitely just pals (and a pain in each others’ butts). I think Krissy definitely has an admiration for Dean (not that she’d ever admit it) but she views him more as the cool older brother as opposed to a cute guy.
Since she sees them as 'definitely just pals' that tells me she wasn't trying to portray a crush on Dean in her performance.
Not that that need stop anyone interpreting a crush on Krissy's side if they want, like Madison says. It's nice to hear an actress allowing for audience interpretation :)
I love her general interpretation of Krissy anyway: I really try to keep Krissy independent. She doesn’t need another person to verify her value as a person or hunter. Down the road if she does have a love interest, I guarantee you she would wear the pants in that relationship. As of now, I think she really just wants to honor and remember her parents and save the world from the bad guys. You know, everyday hunter business.
I know it's cool to interpret her as crushing on Aiden so the 'like a brother' line relates to Dean and Cas (and I DO interpret things that way :p), but the coolest thing about Krissy IS her independence imo, so I'm chuffed about that being apparently one of the central aspects of the character for Madison :)
