Me, Madrah, Salulu, and Papaya all just survived thirty days of “This War of Mine.”
I was a computer technician with a knack for electronics, i don’t think i actually contributed much, mainly just guarded the house during the night and did a few chores around the house, building stuff and the like.
Madrah was an ex police officer, giving her a proficiency in guns and making her our main combatant.
Papaya was labeled as a woodcutter, and as such got a bonus when cutting down wooden objects with a hatchet, once winter came in she was invaluable to gathering firewood.
and Salulu was a therapist with a strong will that made her difficult o make sad. Between her talks and her guitar playing, she basically kept the lot of us sane, especially after some early thieving made the rest of us depressed.
Madrah started off severely ill, and for awhile it looked like she wasn’t going to make it. i can’t remember if it was Papaya or Salulu that did it, but eventually one of them took up a crowbar and broke into an old couple’s house. The woman didn’t even know what hit her, one hit to the back of the head and she was dead. The old man took two hits after watching his wife die, but on them and in their house we found the meds we needed to save Madrah’s life, and she made a full recovery, like a boss.
The crime outbreak came early and we weren’t prepared, we had a few knives to our names but that was about it, no fortifications, no guns, when we did find a gun it had no ammo, it was stolen the next night. Then we found some ammo but no gun. That was stolen the next night. Then we found a gun with no ammo again. that was also stolen the next night. We almost didn’t make it then, but lucky for us the outbreak of crime ended before any of us died.
We manage to scavenge ourselves back to a decent position, even got our hands on a shot gun and some ammo alongside a combat helmet from the old man’s place, we repaired them up and paid the Brothel a visit. It took Madrah only two days to kill ever bastard in the place, one at a time, grabbing every gun and bullet-resistant vest she could find. as the last one fell, the two women locked in the basement made a break for it, and Papaya came in the next night to grab all the food and medical supplies she could carry.
A few more days pass and Madrah heads into a construction sight where two rebels are hunting down some no-name guy. Madrah manages to get the jump on them after he’s killed, and walks away with more guns and ammo. We basically live off the supplies in the construction sight as Papaya chops the whole place to bits with her hatchet, this is much later in the game and i skipped over a lot of details that i forgot, but we managed to get really well set up by now. Rat cages for food, furnace for heat, good thing too because winter was setting in for the final ten days.
After that it was more or less a matter of waiting. Madrah tried to take out some douchebags who were robbing humanitarian aid packages in a local warehouse, but slipped up and got spotted by two of them, she managed to kill them and make it out alive with their gear, but was severely wounded. luckily by now we had plenty of food, firewood, and bandages from the brothel, construction sight, and some other locations we visited, so we were able to patch her up and keep everyone fed without a problem.
And then the war ended, and we all got out alive! Horray!
For some reason though the epilogue kept referring to Madrah as a guy despite her being a girl (i checked). Think it got confused because her profession was set as a police officer or something, who knows.
Game managed to kill eight hours or so, so that’s good. it was set to hard difficulty too i think, so i was honestly expecting at least one of us to die there XD
