Madrone SF
Some of my most prized memories are those random moments that lead to amazing discoveries and great experiences all brought about by chance or fate, however you may want to look at it.
This past weekend while waiting for a table for dinner I randomly stumbled into a bar I had not discovered before and instantly fell in love. An eclectic mixture of art, music, San Francisco culture, and good drinks - I couldn't stop staring in awe and wondering how I had never been to this place before. Maybe it was the perfect sound of the guitar, maybe the street art, or how the mixture of different personalities were all fused into this one bar identified so closely with my own. Or maybe it was simply the company. I was smiling on the inside the entire time thinking, " This was here this whole time? How could I have overlooked it?"
This experience and place sums up my very philosophy of art, life and and the fusing of all things beautiful. Appreciating diversity, local talent, art in all forms at its very best.
"Central to Madrone Art Bar is the total aesthetic cultural experience, and the participation of the audience in defining its character, meaning, and significance as an alternative art space . . .
. . . Most important at Madrone is questioning and expanding common assumptions of what constitutes the nature of art, as well as the subversion of galleries or museums as the sole location for exhibiting, and defining, the meaning and validity of art. Madrone is thus concerned with disseminating, democratizing, and re-articulating the significance of art in an alternative functioning exhibition space—the neighborhood bar as an art forum."
