Tbh I didn't like Eridan at first, because of how the fandom portrayed him, but when I took a harder look at his character in canon, he grew on me. It upsets me that people are so hit and miss with him, he's actually a pretty great character, not the whiny little loveless scumbag people make him out to be. He's a more debatable character, in terms of what side he's on in-game, but that's what makes him interesting to me. In short, unjust/flawed character does not equal bad character. umu/
Totally agree. I do like certain fandom portrayals of him a great deal (two examples would be from this ask blog and this ask blog) but there are times when I also get disgusted, too. In canon, he is definitely flawed and those flaws can make you love or hate him. I happen to find him pretty interesting! Particularly in RP, having such a flawed character can be fun to work with!
But yeah, I am totally cool if people don't like him even if they are looking at the right things. My husband can't stand him at all, actually. To each their own!
