Here all along || MakoRin
Makoto sat alone on the curbside with his bare feet in the warm sand. He watched the sun greet the sea to mark the end of another long, repetitive day. Makoto hasn’t been feeling himself lately, all thanks to his school’s pressuring system for college preparation. It is such a big deal that he just... freezes and panics. And today was not the first time he decided to walk home alone.
Should he pursue swimming? He has been encouraged to do so by some of his closest friends, but what about coaching, or something related to literature since that was his only excellent subject at school?
His thoughts were all over the place. Haru and Rin would be swimming, so Makoto’s heart was naturally drawn to his close friends. Yet... he wanted to shape and individualise his own life. He felt the desire to disassociate himself from other people’s dreams, but the thought of unfamiliarity and selfishness seemed to push him back to square one.

"You just made my terrible day not so terrible." It wasn't much that Makoto had done for Rin despite letting him in, sit on the couch and brag about how hard work had been – though his company had helped indeed. (from the disgustingly shippy starters, if you don't mind.)
Makoto blinked, looking up from his cup of tea by the kitchen counter, glasses slightly foggy from the steam rising from his kitty cup, a gift Haru got him when he saw it in a window in Shinjuku. He honestly didn’t think he did much. He just let Rin in, which was normal, made him some coffee, which was normal, asked if he wanted a sandwich (which he made! Makoto could add sandwiches to his cooking repertoire), which was normal, and then just... listened to Rin rant about his day.
All normal things for him to do.
He moved then, bringing his cup of tea with him as he sat down next to Rin. “Well, I’m glad it helped,” he smiled. “Though I normally do these things, right? It’s not so different from any other day, is it?”
Makoto pushed his glasses up, blinking a bit as he felt his eyes strain slightly. He’d have to get checked at the optometrist for a new prescription. “And you’re welcome to stop by anytime, you know?” he added, as he picked up Rin’s empty cup and moved it to the kitchen sink.

“Stormy- STORMY! HO!... HO!”
Really her calling out was more of a reflex than anything, her mount had long since gone on his merry way. Cantering along the beach as if he hadn’t just dumped his rider into the shallow remnants of a breaking wave. Estelle wasn’t the most optimistic person, but fair to say a very soggy run after a horse that had apparently just today rediscovered the art of spooking was not what she had foreseen. With the gelding’s apparent enjoyment of his current freedom, and the space he had at his disposal, his capture was going to be a delicate operation - and it was about to get more delicate... There’s a jogger up ahead this morning. Of course there’s a jogger up ahead this morning. Of course the dapple grey was now approaching said jogger at a brisk trot. Yet there was little else she could do but yell a hurried, Japanese ‘On your left!’ warning at the stranger.
If she went much faster than a jog herself, Stormy would likely just pick up his speed as well, and the last thing she wanted was to get him excited all over again. As it was now, he was actually looking rather casual, as if he might draw up with this young man and start a chat about the weather.
I’d Rather Dance With You

「遙」- It was beyond Haruka how his ballet instructor thought it would be a good idea for them to work together with the hip-hop dancers, and to be frank, he wanted no part in it. How were they supposed to make a choreography that would both capture the grace of ballet and the aggressiveness of hip-hop. Not to mention, how would they make a partner-based dance on such circumstances? He couldn’t even begin to imagine what a dance like that would look like, and he was already completely convinced that it would be nothing short of horrible. Nothing good would come from this so called “mixed dance project”, Haru was sure of it.
On the day of the happening, Haru still hadn’t strayed from his opinion. Although he’d kept his complaints to himself, it was easy to read his displeasure from the glare he gave every god damned hip-hop dancer that entered the ballet studio, and even more so from the way he leaned against the wall in the far corner away from the door, arms crossed over his chest. He knew his instructor had seen his little act of rebellion, but he also knew that his instructor didn’t give two shits wether he was unhappy with the circumstances. His instructor had never been one for taking constructive criticism, and now was no different. Whatever he said went, and even Haru’s unrelenting glare could do anything to stop it.
Because Haru was the only male dancer in his class, Haru subconsciously waited for a girl to walk in. After all, that was the norm in partner dances: one male and one female. But as time went, and as the room began to fill, Haru realised there were no girls among the hip-hop dancers. This only further confirmed his hate for the project. Not because he would have to dance with another man, but because that man would probably much rather dance with one of the ballerinas instead. Hip-hop wasn’t exactly a style of dance known for attracting many gays, and to them, this project was probably nothing but an excuse to get closer to the girls in his class. Yet another reason Haru would rather jump off a cliff than go through with this dance.
When everyone had gathered, the two instructors began partnering dancers. One from each style, and from the looks of it they were going for matching physiques. For instance, the smaller ballerinas were assigned those of the hip-hop dancers that were smaller, and the ones that were bigger, were given partners with strong looking arms and tall, lean figures. To his dismay, this probably meant they were doing lifts. And he thought this couldn’t get any worse.
Soon everyone had their partner and it seemed he’d been given the remaining, well muscled redhead. Although there had been no reaction so far, Haru thought it was probably because of his girly name. At least now he’d have the pleasure of crushing his dreams of dancing with some beautiful ballerina. Great.
