Picture Book Wrap Up
Images from my Goodreads shelves.
Ah! Once this is posted, I will be 60 days into my “Read two picture books a day” challenge for 2020 and I am well on top of this goal. I’ve started adding in picture books in Spanish (I’m trying to brush up on my Spanish skills so we shall see how this progresses) which explains the increase in books from the Elephant & Piggie series by Mo Willems. Just so happens that my local library has a lot of these titles in Spanish! I’m definitely enjoying their humor and life lessons.
Despite this increase, I have found time to read other books as well! Here were a few of my other favorites from the past few weeks:
Ruby Finds a Worry by Tom Percival: This book is wonderful for emotional development and support! Ruby has a worry that grows and grows the more she worries about it, until one day she finds someone else with a worry. They discover the power of talking through their issues and decreasing their worry!
The Remember Balloons by Jessie Oliveros (Author) & Dana Wulfekotte (Illustrator): This book is going to tug at your heartstrings as James discover the harsh realities that his grandfather is losing all his “remember balloons”. Definitely a great book to use with children that may know adults experiencing dementia or Alzheimer’s.
The North Star by Peter H. Reynolds: Reynolds’ books are always full of support, kindness, and passions. This particular picture book is about following your own path as you navigate the world. Sometimes your path will cross with others and sometimes you have to journey alone. Either way, this book is full of powerful messages for children and adults alike.
What Do You Do With a Problem? by Kobi Yamada (Author) & Mae Besom (Illustrator): Yamada has a series of books related to difficult concepts (chances, ideas, etc.) and this book is a wonderful visualization about what to do when life gets tough. The message is positive and enlightening, the artwork is gorgeous, and you’ll read this book wishing it had been a part of your childhood as well.
That’s it for picture books for now! I’ll be updating again in a few weeks so please reach out if you have any suggestions OR if you’d just like to talk about some of your favorite picture books. Happy reading!

2013
It was one of my friend’s 21st birthdays a few weeks ago, so I decided to pick up this beautiful picture book as part of her present. It has a lovely, inspirational message inside and I would highly recommend it for any age group. I now have it in my own personal library to flick through and revisit from time to time.
