So, that's "T" for Tessaro. Check
This is the first sound-tracked book of the year. Check. (Harder to do than I thought it would have been. The first few titles, therefore, will be graded on a curve. I may go back and update them later in the year.)
With this one title I have checked of two items from the Popsugar List (Link in previous post). Check. Check.
Special Note: I have personally disqualified two items on the Popsugar List. The first is item "a book by a female author". This, for me, is ridiculous to list as a check-ible item. I hope that anyone who is selecting a book to read does not consider choosing between a male or female author with the same consideration they apply when choosing between fiction or non-fiction. Perhaps this item would not have been bothersome to me if item "a book by a male author" was also a check-ible item on the list. (Actually, I would have disqualified both items for myself because WTF!) The second is item "a book you can finish in a day". I finish most books I read in one day. I can't stand not knowing what happens and what happens is sitting right there in the room with me. I must know what happens NOW! (Except for you, Ulysses. But I'm not talking to you right now. You know why!) I don't pretend to know anyone else's book selection process or reading habits, so I will repeat, disqualification of these items is personal to me.
I'm not going to be posting a review of the books I read this year. I only did a few last year. While I did enjoy writing the entries for those titles, it was more stressful than fun after just a few books. I am doing these things for fun. I will not turn it into a chore. I may create a rating code, just to let you know if I like the story and how strongly I recommend it for someone else's TBR.
I do, in fact, like this story very much. If you're down with out-of-the-humdrum-and-into-future-happiness stories with a bit of fairy-godmother sprinkled throughout, you should take a peek at this one.
I also highly recommend The Perfume Collector by Kathleen Tessaro. (The audio-book is gorgeous! It sounds to the ear like what mink feels like to the touch.)
