Hi everyone! I’m Maeanna, and I’m going to be taking over for Sarah on Self Love Saturday for a few weeks. This is my first time contributing to Fab Fem (I’m really excited <3), so I thought that for this Saturday, I’d introduce myself by sharing what I do to try and love myself as much as I can.
2) I write things down! Whenever I’m upset about something, I try not to be angry at myself for not being able to think rationally. I don’t like feeling like I don’t have a control over my feelings and actions, so I write it all down to get organized and to remind myself that it’s okay to have a lot of feelings all at once.
3) I read children’s books! They’re super cute, have great art, and often have really good morals. Picture books are made to teach children to be happy and safe, and I find it really comforting to read them aloud to my nieces while reminding myself that I deserve to be happy and safe, too.
Breaking News: Loving yourself can be a really hard thing to do! No matter how many times you make the decision that you will “never hate again”, it’s really easy to slip back into an unconscious attitude of hate and self-degradation. So for me, I try to fight this seemingly constant stream of hatred with a stream of positivity, and I try to do these things often, in the hopes that I will not only lift myself out of a nasty place, but also help those around me.
