The call of the forest was strong, and the late evening found Casey skateboarding along one of the trails among the trees. It was beautiful out in nature, and offered fresh air that the ac unit in the hotel couldn’t provide. Under the canopy, he could see the colors of the sunset that colored the sky like paint.
He almost hadn’t noticed the person standing ahead of him, but his eyes moved from the sky at the right time, and he skidded to a stop a few feet away. He could feel ghosts of cat ears twitch at the figure, eyes taking them in. They seemed so... familiar, in a way that Casey couldn’t place. Her eyes were too small, her hair wasn’t the typical wiry fur that he remembered.... Wait, what? No, he didn’t know this person, he had no idea who they were.
He pushed back the feeling of confusion, that something wasn’t right, and waved. “Hey! Good to know I’m not the only person out here! The view’s great, huh?”
