Ben had just gotten the hang of relaxing, managing to get himself outside and to the beach. That didn’t last too long, though. He hated sand. It was a particularly hot day so he figured it was a good idea for him to get something to cool down. He wandered past a few storefronts before finding a tea shop. Maybe they had something in there that would interest him?
Despite the beach being so empty, it seemed that this island wasn’t as vacant as he thought. There were at least eight people in line. Ben crossed her arms over his chest, letting out a sigh. He had to learn to be more patient and he knew that about himself. He still couldn’t help but be irritated.
As he finally got up to order, he got himself a green tea and went to stand off to the side. He heard his name called and went up to get his order. Just as he did, the person in front of him turned around and slammed right into his chest. Instantly, Ben wanted to blow up. He balled up his fists and clenched his jaw. Calm. Calm. No reason to unload on this stranger. “No problem,” he replied, voice strained.
Casey’s hands trembled lightly, anxiety tugging at him at the look of the other’s body language. He clears his throat, offering the napkins again. His face turns sheepish as he holds them out. If he had cat ears, they’d surely be turned downward at this point. He clears his throat again, lower lip wedging between his teeth. The nagging feeling of his heart dropping into his chest was miserable. It felt like heat was slowly inching under his skin.
“I really am sorry, man, let me make it up to you somehow?”
