Gelnhausen in Hessen, Central Germany, lies 40 km from Frankfurt am Main, between the Vogelsberg mountains and the Spessart range. According to the Institut Géographique National, from 2007-2013, the geographic center of the European Union was located in a wheat field just outside of town.
