I know multiple girls in my high school who's parents refuse to give them the gardasil vaccine so if they have sex, they're "screwed". I mean it's not like that vaccine also prevents against CANCER!
One of the first articles I wrote for my college newspaper was about Gardasil when it was first released. I spoke to nurses and students and medical professionals and they were all SO EXCITED that this existed and fewer people would get genital warts or cervical cancer. A good, unobjectionable thing all around.
HAHHAHA no. The level of "but what about the sexing teens?!?" hand-wringing over a vaccine that doesn't prevent pregnancy, doesn't prevent any STI other than some strains of warts, and protects you FROM CANCER is just astounding. How stupid do you think your daughter is that she'd go on a sex free-for-all because she's mostly protected from two diseases? Slash do you really think your daughter is only not having sex (that you know of) because she's worried about cervical cancer? Ugh. Just ugh.
Oh lord. Sophomore year is going to be the worst year of your life. That sounds horrible, I know, but it is. It sucks in every way possible. You will suck as a human being in 10th grade; everyone does. Okay? But, you are going to get through it. Take the psat. Okay? You are going to do amazing after this. You will always have me when it's bad okay? I love you!
