Her opposition to Todd Blanche’s nomination as attorney general raises a host of tough questions.
suzie q was, is and always will be a hardcore maga moron til the day she dies. Her wrinkled lips are plastered so tight to the gnarly shit encrusted tang 🍊 turd’s 💩 asshole that not even a crowbar greased with WD 40 could pry them loose. It’s way past time for this old maga hag to go and make room for someone younger who can think for themselves.
Honestly, I’m tired of the Tuskegee conversation. I’m tired of the Howard conversation. I’m tired of Cheyenne Bryant, the endless respectability debates, and folks posting glamour shots in their Ph.D. regalia.
Because what is about to happen this coming semester, as these student loan changes take effect, is gonna make all of these social media controversies look insignificant.
I have been ranting for over a year that we are heading toward a financial and administrative clusterfuck that will hit students, families, faculty and institutions all at once. Students are gonna discover that the money they were counting on is delayed, reduced or unavailable. Parents are gonna realize they cannot cover the gap. Universities are going to be scrambling to explain rules they did not create, manage crises they are not funded to solve and keep students enrolled who simply do not have the cash to stay.
And we need to stop acting as though this is just an individual budgeting problem or another opportunity to lecture young people about personal responsibility. This is a structural emergency!!!!!
Black colleges, regional universities, community colleges and institutions that serve poor and working-class students are going to absorb the worst of it. These schools already operate with thin margins, aging infrastructure, inadequate public investment and students whose enrollment often depends on every dollar of aid arriving exactly when promised.
If we do not gather as a community of educators, alumni, churches, foundations, elected officials, parents, students and people with resources and begin developing real solutions, we are going to watch institutions collapse. Folks don’t realized that 50 colleges have closed since 2020.
We need emergency funds, tuition assistance, debt-free completion grants, housing support, food support, financial-literacy campaigns, alumni giving structures and political pressure. We need coordinated action, not another week of online spectacle.
Because there will be no universities without students. And there will be no students if higher education becomes financially impossible for everyone except the wealthy.
We can keep arguing over personalities, prestige, titles and attire. Or we can recognize that the goddamn building is on fire and start organizing like we intend to save it...!
BREAKING: YES PLEASE! Trump accidentally gives voters the BEST reason to vote Abdul El-Sayed for the U.S. Senate by claiming that it will result in him being "the last Republican President."
Dare to dream America...
"For our Great Republican Senators, friends of mine 'all,' please be advised that the Communist Dumocrat Senate Candidate from Michigan, Abdulrahman Mohamed El-Sayed, is touting, as perhaps his single most important point, the Termination of the Filibuster," Trump wrote on Truth Social.
You can tell from the pathetic, meaningless "communist" smear as well as his fearmongering use of El-Sayed's full Arabic name that Trump is terrified of this candidate. He can see the progressive wave rising and he knows it's going to wash away his fascist MAGA movement for good.
"I watched yesterday, and he’s gone Termination CRAZY," Trump continued. "If he succeeds, the Dumocrats will gain 4 Senators, 8 Congressmen, many Electoral and Popular Votes, a stacked Supreme Court with 23 Justices, and I will be, sadly, despite the great job we are doing, the last Republican President! President DONALD J. TRUMP."
El-Sayed is indeed calling for an end to the filibuster because it's a fundamentally undemocratic mechanism that allows the Senate to function as a tool of right-wing minoritarian rule. Popular programs should not require a 60 vote threshold for implementation, because that gives far too much power to red states with sparse populations.
Thanks to the Senate — which is a historic relic that was designed in large part to appease slaveholders — a single vote in Wyoming carries the effective weight of 67 votes in California. The former state has a population of 590,000 and California is home to 39.4 million people. And yet both states receive just two votes in the Senate.
As for Trump's promise that electing El-Sayed and terminating the filibuster will usher in a new age of Democratic governance, all we can say is: God we sure hope so!
His mention of "4 senators" is presumably a reference to D.C. and Puerto Rico statehood, which would be far easier to pass without the filibuster.
We should also be open to the idea of expanding the Supreme Court. What was once intended to be a neutral body for interpreting the laws that Congress passes has mutated into a corrupt apparatus for Republican control of our civilization. It has become blatantly partisan and must be reformed.
Imagine for a moment what this country would be like if we never had another Republican President. No more pointless foreign wars. No more tax cuts for oligarchs and planet-destroying corporations. No more covering up the Epstein files.
Instead, we'd have Medicare for All, affordable housing, fair wages, paid family leave, a green energy revolution, and an end to support for genocide.
How does that sound to you...?
BREAKING: Notorious anti-Muslim bigot and fascist Rep Andy Ogles, pictured here with an absurd number of guns to overcompensate, has lost his primary election to Charlie Hatcher. This despite having Trump’s full throated endorsement. Next term, Ogles will NOT be a member of the US Congress...!
