@magalimoons same tbh. Like - I understood in the s2 fights were Alec was coming from and that he didn’t mean any harm, but that doesn’t change the fact that Magnus was not in the wrong there and I’m?

3x09 and 3x10 thoughts (the good)
I genuinely hate the choice Magnus made. But everything in the lead-up and the backstory we got was incredible. But Magnus giving up his magic is just… ew on many levels for me.
I dont hate the idea itself because I think it would be really interesting to explore a character like Magnus, for whom magic is such a huge and inherent part of who he is, being without it. I like the idea of seeing that for a bit (and I mean A BIT because if the writers ever decide to leave him without his magic and/or mortal forever I will fight a bitch and just give up on this pile of nonsense, my favourite character DOES NOT FUCKING DESERVE THAT).
And by explore, I mean maybe we’ll get a few scenes in the first and last episodes of 3b, if we’re lucky. Yay. #ForeverBitter
Anyway, the thing that bothers me though is how they framed his choice as being explicitly and only for Alec’s sake. Fuck off with that, writers.
Magnus Bane isnt someone who wouldnt care about an innocent person suffering, whether he is or isnt soul-bonded to his boyfriend.
Magnus Bane isnt someone who wouldnt care about innocent mundanes getting possessed and killed.
Magnus Bane isnt some boyfriend-obssessed school boy with his first crush.
I absolutely fucking hate how they made him do this just for Alec (and meanwhile Alec does what for him?).
@ncfan-1 reblogged your post: “ncfan-1: A concept: Richard Armitage as Sandor Clegane...”
Looks like those screenshots are from when he played Guy of Gisborne, too (Probably the most appropriate, considering Guy’s fucked up in somewhat similar ways to Sandor).
(added a third gif btw.) I keep meaning to watch that show, lol_meme back in the day was so into it, everyone tells me it’d murder me with my favorite tropes, and I mean I see gifsets like this and I just die, but somehow I’ve never gotten around to it. One of these days...

#i'd use #altho still too old given sandor's at most 30 at the start of the books lol
Hey, RA was only about 35-38 during the filming of the BBC Robin Hood, y’know. Still a bit old for Sandor’s 27-30 during the books, but for visual adaptation that difference barely matters, especially when it’s hot-as-hell Richard Armitage for goodness sake. ;)
Saw the ask about the big bang, which is what I've been thinking about as well because we need so much fic, this ship deserves all the fic. I'd be willing to co-host a big bang with a few other people. If anyone's interested to do one - I think at least five people to just manage the craziness of a big bang since I know everyone's busy - I would be happy to do it with them lol. So if anyone's down - reply to this post or send me a PM and let's get cracking.
Sorry, I meant to add at the end of my previous ask that given we don’t know if people will be intimidated by the idea of a big bang or something, we can make it more of a mini-bang with the minimum word count being 4K words or something manageable. That way, more fic in case people are too busy to be writing 50K opuses (I know I am).
i’m so ignorant when it comes to fanfiction events that i have no idea how a big bang works lol but i’ll all in for helping to promote and signal boost and also i’d write something for it as well :)
i’ll post this in the tag and hopefully other people interested will reach out to you or me.

I'd say the fact that Magnus was unwilling to sacrifice Clary when it became apparent she can activate the soul sword and kill him and millions of downworlders - a solution that the rest of the downworld supported EXCEPT Magnus and Luke (Clary's main paternal figure) is a strong indication that he protects/cares for her. Plus his willingness to help Clary in s1-2, and even when he couldn't (e.g. resurrecting Jocelyn) being continually gentle with her and supportive
Those are good points. It has slowed down some, I can’t remember the last time he called her “biscuit.” I guess it’s more that it wasn’t until I read the first book that I actually realized the significance of her being the only person he saw grow up. It just seemed more like he cared but she was still detached from him overall. Then again, now that I'm thinking on it more he doesn’t seem to look twice at Simon until he becomes a vampire that needs help and is practically indifferent to Jace and Isabelle. Friendly, but more like it’s because they are some of the few shadowhunters that haven’t ticked him off/insulted him in some way. Makes me happy that in retrospect he has been Uncle Magnus to Clary.

I blame the Originals tbh. The story went off the rails as soon as they entered the scene and then proceeded to not leave for way too long. The show became so bloated, and character and relationships were sacrificed on the altar of developing them enough for a spin-off. /forever bitter
ugh yes that’s a very good point. I remember when the Originals happened on TVD, I thought it was too soon for like. THE ANCIENT VAMPIRES to show up, it was barely s2. TVD in s1 was a show about small town horrors and I didn’t think the show had fully really explored that, and then The Originals came along and dominated a lot of the show’s conflict. Like I love the spin off now? I geuinely really enjoy it and it’s probs one of the few shows I’m watching regularly and I never expected that to happen but I feel that’s because they finally got their own show. I like the Originals so much on their own show than TVD.
When the Originals happened, it became a show about SAVING THE WORLD even though everyone was morally corrupt FROM KLAUS AND HIS HYBRIDS and it lost the small scale issues the show was dealing with. Then after Klaus, they had to make bigger and badder villains so we get like Silas and....whatever else happened I honestly don’t remember but it just got way too big and bloated way too fast.
The reason why season 1 conflict worked was that it was about the town itself, the dark secrets and ugly family legacies, which made it ultimately about the characters (and it doesn’t help that ugly small towns is one of my fave narrative kinks so I am slightly biased there). The reveal of the founding families knowing about vampires in Family Ties was shocking and awesome, but that never really reached it’s full potential.

i find it all really fucking hilarious. people are going to try it so hard - the zayn vs harry is going to be super obnoxious.
they’re probably not even going to make the same type of music but boy will they try
magalimoons replied to your post “ifellforfandoms replied to your post: ...”
I think that's the worst part for me. The narrative keeps framing Clary's choices/actions as ~right~, she rarely suffers consequences (other characters suffer e.g. dot, maia) etc. And they have all these characters acting against their own self-interest or good sense in support of Clary and characters who oppose are framed as irrational (Maia). It's hella messy for me, and it's going to get messier.
Exactly! I feel like they oversimplified everything so it becomes way too clear cut whether it’s black or white, right or wrong. Like the decision made by the Downworlders to kill Clary for “the greater good”; the egalitarian would say it’s wrong, because Clary deserves to live just as much as the next person but a utilitarian would argue otherwise, because killing Clary (at that point), means they save possibly millions of Downworlders. So in my opinion, Maia was doing something that could be considered rational, and her being framed as irrational as you said and being shut down so brutally (by Luke, of all people), was infuriating. I really hope they can resolve Luke and Maias’ plot, because you’re right, it’s a mess right now.
