Hey while I am busy with a lotta things I wanted to share something thats been coming together lately thanks to help from friends. Ive finally been able to do some solidifying on the hueminn designs. So I thought on small breaks I’d really try to make some rough colored drawings of the Hueminns. Perhaps the hardest to design was Magentine here. She was one I had to start from scratch and her body types and quirks were always something that eluded me. Sorry for no clothing but im trying to nail down the markings and colors first! Magentine is the dreamon of romantic/lust dreams. Pronouns are he/she/they/ She is fascinated with relationships or the ‘chemistry’ between people. Magentine always comes off as flirty but her primary interest is her work at the LuvLab. She is a chemist who works with emotions and creates all sorts of solutions which have varying effects on people’s feelings. 

Her attendants in her lab are living beakers each with their own unique mixture that makes them who they are!

6. Describe Your Character Creation Process.

Oooh. It is honestly all over the place. Honestly Im guilty of making designs first and later just giving them names and personalities later as I need to. Usually this happens when I have a very clear idea in my head for a design, Like so:

Love the design but literally no name or idea about who or what they are. Usually what happens is later I’ll need a character to fulfill a role and just kinda skim through designs and characters I’ve neglected and just apply them to the role.

There are times when I do think of a character and role first and then have to do a design from scratch. Its a much more intensive and sloppy process though and often takes a few rounds to actually start to get something I like.

Magentine for example is a character I’ve been trying to design for years now but never quite found the right shape. I have her voice, her personality, her purpose all ready to go just dont have a look to match. Usually with these my drawings are pretty sloppy and chicken scratch because I’m just trying to belt out as many ideas as I can instead of hyperfocus on one. Theres usually pages and pages of these.

Greegori is an example of one where I have a loose idea but still just cant quite smooth out the details. Doodles tend to be more coherent but still just making tweaks and exploring options.
