Jinnjer and Maestro Mayhem for the talented @merriway. It was just going to be Jinnjer, but I couldn’t find any color references for her. It didn't feel right handing out a half made gift art, so I was happy to add the maestro as well.

Some concepts for The ShadowKing or just Shaddo as very few are allowed to call him call him.

One of my very first OCs and probably one of the hardest for me to design. The ShadowKing is a character who by his very nature is a threat to the safety of the planet. However he is not necessarily a villain nor does he seek destruction or malice.

Shaddo is a terrible accident come to life who only seeks to have some sort of important purpose. He once felt like he had found his place when he became king of a secret town he had created. When his subjects eventually exiled him he became increasingly sad and bitter.

He is perhaps one of the most powerful entities to exist in the Merriway but he and almost everyone are unaware of that fact which is one of the things keeping everything safe right now.

Shaddo’s path initially seems like a grim one until he comes across a very unusual companion.

Fairy: “Everyone keeps drawing me as my smaller tiny self and not when I’m like this. Do people not like me when I like this?” Oranhamme: “Honey you are adorable in any form you take don’t let that bother you.”

I hope the dialogue I made is in character of them. I always noticed most people draw small bean Fairy and not the bigger more monstrous Fairy. I figured they would feel insecure about that fact. So I made a drawing based on that idea and also to draw Fairy in that form because I really like big soft monster designs in that shape. It’s what makes a lot of dragon characters so appealing.

Buncha thoughts and doodles from the past week. Stuff I’ve been doing for myself.

Top guy is a revamp of an old character, Lupin. Not sure what he does nowadays but back when I made him he was one of many grim reapers.

Then I’ve been sorta combining a lot of concepts over the past years into one entity I guess. Pink Pooka, Mjolk, and various past sona thingies, all merged into one sad boi. Just been using the name Mjolk right now. The color scheme isnt final but I thought it was kinda cute to make em look like an egg maybe. Anywho they’re till a pooka who just turns into various egg animals?

Who knows.

Quick warmup got a lil carried away.

Been a while since I drew my big guy Baruti. With spyro coming out I was excited to see Lofty Castle as that level inspired the color scheme for Fairy as well as well as provided Baruti his name since it is the name of one of the dragons trapped in that level.

Baruti has had a bit of a journey character wise but currently he’s the king of the dreamons. He was not really chosen by anyone or anything in particular to be king. If you recall earlier posts dreams are just concepts kind of come to life in this weird world and so Baruti really is just the embodiment of the idea of a King, a good King. Everyone else kinda went along with it.

As King Baruti is very decadent, he loves luxuries but he also shares his spoils with his subjects. His key objective is keeping MerreM safe and sound and making sure its running ok which tends to be a very loose idea because a dream world kinda just does what it wants. So he ends up being a figure that dreamons go to for wisdom and advice. 

Baruti has a nobility and something intimidating about him that commands respect  but hes never really been cross or aggressive with anyone. In fact he really tends to take the matters of any subject seriously. When not aiding his dreamon subjects he tends to just relax and recline and enjoy good food and drink, company and dance or if he prefers quiet he retreats to his room to do some knitting.

Hey its Yelloneus! Yelloneus is the Hueminn of Daydreams and here to make the impossible possible! She is a painter who can bring her paintings to life. Unlike Oranhamme who can make solid physical objects though her paintings are not so solid and behave more like illusions. But it allows her to paint a rather impressive display of unbound imagination. 

Yelloneus herself is very chipper on the outside and promotes her belief that if you can think it you can be it. However underneath the sunny disposition lies a host of anxieties and responsibilities that the yellow hueminn actively tries to forget and avoid. 

Her brother, Indignus is often trying to help her sort through various phobias she has but Yelloneus has been known to try to run and hide from him quite often. 

Ive also been trying to figure out what dreamon clothing looks like. At least what they would wear in their home dimension. Their clothing is very pajama like in thats its often more loose/comfy/minimalist. Its very colorful with lots of patterns which can lead to a lot of clashing looks.  

Im still deciding on some of her quirks but her main body quirk is that she actually has no eyes on her face, her glasses are a false pair of eyes. Her real eye is on her back which you cant see here.

Haha, I was talking to @dr-jingles about Nag and our love for cyclopic object head jerks. I was talking about the relationship between Fairy and Nag since its a strange one and decided to try and make a comic about it? Nag and Fairy are very similar in how they operate as dreamons but very different personality wise. While Fairy is sometimes called the dreamon of sweet dreams and seems to have something to do with spreading good vibes, Nag does quite the opposite and thrives on spreading frustration and fear. They’re both rather stretchy and able to grow, extend, and shrink. They also both possess a lack of directly effective magic and instead rely on status type inducing abilities. Their magic just has opposite effects. Due to the similarities and differences between the two they have a bit of a love-hate relationship, frienemies if you will. Its a very complicated one. One they both thrive and wilt a little from the attention they give one another.  Hopefully I can show it better in the future!
