Question about declining names. I'm writing a poem with the name "Aran" in it and I've been doing "Aran, Aranis". Does that work, in your opinion?

That is a possible mode of inflection, but it is not a native Latin one.

The names that inflect -an, -anis (actually, -ān, -ānis) in Latin are really Greek-derived: e.g.

Paeān, Paeānis (Παιάν, Παιᾶνος),

Tītān, Tītānis (Τιτάν, Τιτᾶνος),

Azān, Azānis (Ἀζάν, Ἀζᾶνος).

We already sometimes use the Greek-derived -ōn, -onis (-ων, -ονος) inflection for modern names, so I do not see a huge problem with using the -ān, -ānis one for modern names as well.

And so we have:

Latin Arān, Arānis,

Greek Ἀράν, Ἀρᾶνος.

Sic est sententia mea. Utinam hoc tibi prosit!
