My Saving Hope ships, for funsies
(I know almost no one watches Saving Hope but whatever blabbing into the void is what we do here...)
Joel x Dana - I think this is my top ship actually. There's just not enough older woman/younger man pairings out there, I love how she puts him in his place and you can see how into her he is, they have amaaazing chemistry. I know they don't hook up beyond the one night but I live for their charged flirting nonetheless.
Charlie x Dawn - Charlie is Michael Shanks's character, I knew I was going to ship him with the ex-wife and I was right! I love Dawn on her own, she's so interesting, also she's gorgeous, and they have such a fun dynamic where they hate each other a little, there's sexual tension, it's such divorcee fun times. I think it's apparent that she also gets him better than Alex does, he confides in her more, he treats her more like an equal whereas he treats Alex with kid gloves. Given that Alex started out as his student that makes sense, but that is a power dynamic I don't like.
Joel x Charlie - listen this is the first of 'remove the love triangle object of affection and let the contenders just be gay together.' Charlie and Joel have a similar dynamic to Daniel and Jack on Stargate, there's a competitiveness, a respect, them competing over Alex creates tension between them and they should just fuck about it. Also they're both. So hot.
Alex x Dawn - Give me yuri or give me death! Kind of the same song as above, forget Charlie, let the girlies go at it, they would get each other better than he gets either one of them. I think they could balance each other out. Also I feel like Dawn's actress kind of plays her like she has a bit of a thing for Alex, which, fascinating move, like, how is she so cool with the woman her husband cheated on her with? Like yeah she's hard on her, but she's imminently professional, mostly. Okay this has just turned into an I love Dawn rant but I love Dawn.
Joel x Alex - I like them better than Alex and Charlie. Listen I don't hate Alex and Charlie okay, how could I hate watching Michael Shanks make out with a pretty lady but as characters they're always creating drama between them for drama's sake and it gets old. And I think she and Joel have better chemistry! Yeah he's a playboy, but he's getting his character growth too, I feel like he actually knows her better than Charlie does in some ways and they seem more like they have each other's number whereas ghost medium Charlie is a mystery even unto himself. Anyway I'm looking forward to Alex and Joel getting together again and Charlie probably turning to Dawn for comfort, dysfunction yay!
I ship Maggie with character growth. In season one she was pretty annoying but I still liked her, now I'm in season 2 and she's calmed down some. Also Joel treated her like shit in season 1, but she did just breeze through all the screaming red flags to get what she thought she wanted. And in season 2 I'm not crazy about her with Gavin either, it's just meh. I don't know if she's the best for him; he's more mature than her. I know later on she becomes a lesbian and honestly it can't happen too soon it'll be good for her!
Shahir. Listen. I love Shahir so much. Don't really ship him with anyone, it was sad that he broke up with Victor...which seemed to happen off screen? Anyway I ship Shahir x happiness x his neurodivergence. He is blorbo material.
In conclusion, this show is a total soap opera but I'm hooked. The surgery stuff is cool though usually too gross and I have to look away, but I like most of the patients that they treat and all their individual stories. Someone is code bluing in every episode and there is malpractice everywhere but hey that's what you get on a medical TV drama. I never watched Grey's Anatomy but I assume this is Canadian Grey's Anatomy but with ghosts. I did used to be obsessed with House aka hate crimes MD...at least the malpractice isn't at that level.
Anyway. Go watch Saving Hope. Eat lots of popcorn. Unless you really hate lens flares, in which case you might want to skip it.
