i'll be entirely honest here: i didn't really like episode five

gonna put my little tantrum under the cut here so that you can save your eyeballs. also bc mild spoilers for anyone who hasn't watched the episode yet

i kind of expected more. sure, the episode was good. the adventures were entertaining, the "President Pomni" segment was actually really funny, and the animation was absolutely amazing, especially during the anime-themed adventure - the team really outdid themselves. but where the problem lies with me was the story itself. according to Gooseworx, Ragatha and Jax are sharing the role of the focus characters of episodes 5 and 6, although Ragatha would still have the main focus of episode 5. but it just...didn't really feel that way?

sure, we got some snippets of lore for her character. we learned that she grew up on a farm, had a less-than-pleasant mother who is most likely the source of her anxious and people-pleasing nature, but...that was more or less it. and it didn't really feel like anything but exposition. (the following description is my partner's analysis of it but in my own words, tyvm doodle i love you mwah mwah) every time Jax reveals something about himself, it's always followed up by a quip or a hurried attempt to cover it up, and the rest of the cast's reactions make you automatically want to know more because you know they dislike what he does to others, but their responses help you know why. whereas with Ragatha, it just...falls flat. there's nothing that really goes along with it, so it feels like needless exposition just pinned to her character to make you go "okay, so this happened".

also the episode just felt a little more Jax-oriented?? if that makes any sense at all. i feel like we got to know a little more about him and see more of his interactions than we did Ragatha, and that feels a little unfair. we could have at least had a little more content about her, maybe some more interactions with the rest of the cast, that sort of thing.

but whatever. just interpret this as my little Ragatha fangirl tantrum if you want to, i don't mind, feel free to take my opinions with a grain of salt. if you liked this episode, that's great! personally, i just thought we'd get a little more.

Okay, so I think I might be having a pronoun/gender crisis (a bit of an over exaggeration)???

Any of you remember when I also used bug/bugself pronouns, but then I stopped (cause I got bullied a bit)?

Soooo I think I might want to use those pronouns again AND it/itself! I use He/Him and They/Them, but Bug/Bugself and It/Itself feels kind of right to me?

It makes me feel like I'm beyond gender sometimes, like an alien, and it feels good!

I'm confuzzled and I need ur guys opinion (please)

So, recently, as some of you may or may not know, AO3 – among many other sites, but AO3 is the only one I use, so it's the focus for this post – was recently scraped by a lone individual and publicly uploaded onto the AI training site Hugging-Face as an AI dataset.

Thankfully, the dataset has been temporarily taken down, but, once active, any AI given the set will be able to intake and learn off of the vast majority (if not all) of the fics ever uploaded. (The summary of the dataset is in the picture below, to help you understand this a little better.)

After hearing of this, I'd like to say something. And I cannot POSSIBLY stress this enough. Pardon my French (/j) beforehand.

*Ahem.*

FUCK AI. JUST- IN GENERAL. SERIOUSLY.

It absolutely appalls me that it possessed someone to do this, but the consequences are horrifying (in my opinion). Works like my own, which have genuine passion put into them, could be fed to mindless robots with sentiency entirely artificial so as to train them to produce fics of their own that are wholly soulless and show no effort put into them other than the lazy input of a command. Works that have genuine blood, sweat and tears put into their bare bodies could be churned through an unfeeling machine to spew out new, horribly insipid works at the user's lazy will. (And the whole AI issue has been going on for ages. Just check the "Created with Generative AI" tag on AO3. Currently, there are 5,100 or so fics with that tag. Come on, people.)

And that's just referring to the use of AI on singular fics. This data-scrape affects the whole site, as far as I'm aware.

I didn't write my fics for this to happen. I didn't spend weeks developing the courage to sign up for an AO3 account for my content to be potentially stolen and fed to machines. I didn't spend all those hours as an eight-year-old reading fanfictions on Wattpad (prior to my discovery of the Archive), dreaming to be like those writers that I admired, for the content that I'd later produce to be stolen and used as training material for godforsaken generative robots. And I doubt anyone else wanted this, either.

Anyone who uses AI to write fanfiction, or endorses its use in the space of writing – a space that should be filled with human creativity – get off my blog. Get out. Now. This is a safe space for everyone, but it is not a safe space for lowlives like you.

"But- but- but AI makes it so much easier! 🥺" GET OFF YOUR ASS AND LEARN TO WRITE WELL LIKE THE REST OF US HAD TO.

To summarize: my blog – and all of my accounts across the internet – is never going to be safe spaces for AI, and I want none of my content used for its purposes. It scores no damn respect from me, and it never will.

The ending of the second part of SP: Post COVID made me kind of mad :(

I think cartman still deserved a good life in the end. Like, it was funny that his life went in the dumpster, but at the same time I wanted cartman to have a better life just to broil Kyle's briskets as a big prank thing-y.
