Anybody wanna see a Ming Dynasty-inspired abomination powered wheelchair?
For fan fiction purposes, I envision the Deadwardian Era as sort of a magic multicultural Enlightenment Era, with much of the discovery centered on a magic university. I have decided the ruins at the Knee are that university and its surrounding town. It makes sense for it to be there, since the magic is more potent.
And in the process of developing the lead faculty and the way magic is understood pre-coven system…I went a little wild designing a wheelchair that had that had a good 17th century vibe. And I may have taught myself Blender in order to do so.
I have no regrets.
To be fair, the way things have developed with the main trio, there is reason for this wheelchair to be a BIG DEAL. LOOK. Caleb just really appreciates nice furniture, okay? And there needed to be something that would get him start breaking down his preconceived notions about witches and demons. And he’s a woodworker, so he knows what he’s seeing, other than the abomination part.
And I am definitely writing both brothers to be extremely obviously neurodivergent in a world where it’s mask or die and excellent craftsmanship is one of the few things that can get Caleb to take it off.
I’ll get my first set of character sheets up soon, probably.
