Dear readers of Fictionkinfessions,

Um, hello everyone! I saw that some people had noticed I have been gone for quite a while, and honestly I have been checking up on here but otherwise I’ve mostly been just… existing, you know?

I have had a few realisations lately though! Some were kinda re-realisations but still! For one, I’ve posted a few of the kinfessions you all have seen over recent times; I am the Misaka Mikoto, one of the Lyses from FFXIV, and a Luz Noceda (maybe; I forgot if I ever made a kinfession using that name).

I have also realised I am a Marcille Donato kin from Delicious in Dungeon!

…I know, big surprise. (Sarcasm)

Anyways, I do have a confession of my own right now… It’s very late, about 3 days or so late, but it’s to many of my mothers. For Mother’s Day.

To Twilight Velvet… Mom, I know you were kind of a thrill seeker and did a lot of things over the top, but I loved you… I can still remember that massive Princess Celestia plushie you bought me. I love you.

To Camila Noceda… Mama, thank you for trying your best for me. I don’t have the greatest memory of that life, but I know you wanted to help me the best that you could. And to Eda Clawthorne (who wasn’t biologically my mother but was my second mom in that life no matter which way you look at it)… Thank you for taking me in when I felt lost and alone, and even having the courage to teach me… Even if you did risk yourself too much sometimes.

To Misaka Misuzu… Mama, I doubt you’re out there, and I haven’t read all of our source, but I will say despite being a silly person who sometimes teased me and was childish (kinda sensing a pattern here) thank you for being the best mama you could.

I think those are all the mothers I’m going to mention. The rest of them… Either they didn’t exist, or I was kind of distant from them, or they were just… gone. I do hope all of them are having wonderful lives, somewhere out there in the multiverse, wherever they are.

I know this is late but, I wanted to say something, you know. And I’m happy I did.

Everyone who missed me, though, don’t worry. I’m still around. I’ll be trying my best to do some more of those ask games in the future, so look forward to those!

Just weighing in on the ‘discourse’ around having something from your culture as a kintype: Really, something that several groups of people seem to misunderstand (primarily people who are Kin For Fun) is that you cannot, I repeat, canNOT, control your kintypes.

A kintype is something involuntary, whether it’s gained or kept from birth (and yes, you can gain a kintype), and it can be *legitimately anything*, even problematic by today’s standards. If I remember right, there was someone who had a kintype of that one Native American folklore creature that we don’t say the name of that actually asked several Native American people about it, and was supposedly told that it did indeed actually match up.

There are people who have Nazis from shows where there are Nazi villains as kintypes (or at least, past lives). They aren’t necessarily Nazis in their personal views, though they should take great care to make sure they don’t go down a similar path, but they still exist.

Being Fictionkin and Otherkin isn’t some clean-cut, easy thing where you can just go ‘hey, you can only have kintypes with cool protagonists and people who aren’t evil’; if they were, I wouldn’t have some of my own kintypes. No, being Fictionkin and Otherkin is like every other identity under the sun - messy, strange, confusing, horrible, and sometimes difficult as well. But it can also be incredibly fulfilling! I do kind of love being Fictionkin, because it lets me be myself - the me that, at least in my opinion, I was meant to be.

Getting a little off topic here, so going to finish this up with one last thing for the people reading this: if you see someone trying to tell you you’re bad for having any type of kintype whatsoever, at all, don’t listen to them. You aren’t bad for being you; you can’t help it. It’s your *choices* that make you good or bad. So hold your head up high and be proud of that kintype!

I will tack on a statement that I personally am no longer of the opinion that a kintype having been formed voluntarily originally makes it not a kintype, so I no longer hold to "all kintypes are always 100% involuntary", but your point stands - the vast majority of kintypes are involuntary and you can't apply morality (or, for that matter, possibility, really, in the sense of "if you experience this then clearly it's possible to experience and debating that is pointless") to involuntary things, and a lot of people who jump on the "you can't/shouldn't kin [x]" are making the mistake of thinking that that's... something you can just pick and choose at a whim, which, even in the case of voluntary identity, it's usually more complicated than that.

Hello again, everycreature! I hope the past week has been good for everyone! For me, I’ve had a much more productive week than recently. Relatively speaking, of course; fun is just as important as productivity.

Anyways, today, I was thinking about… my family. From back then. And how I still miss them, even if they were never in this life…

So, my question today for you all is a bit of a melancholic one: how do you feel about your family and friends from your old life? Do you miss them and want them back, or are they ones whose memories you cherish but who you recognise you’ll never see again, and accept it?

Hello there, everycreature! It’s been a bit since I last sent a message here; almost a whole year, even! Ahaha, get it?

Anyways! Today I have another question for you! So, this year, I plan to become closer to my kintype in habits and appearance; it’s a part of my New Year’s Resolution, in fact!

Which ties into my question; if you have a new year’s resolution related to your kintype, what is it, and do you find it realistic to achieve?

Um. Hello! It’s me, the Twilight Sparkle who used to do a whole bunch of Ask Games.

So it’s been a while, eh? I’ve been having a Time of it. Feeling kinda bad in general, too few eggs in too many baskets, that sort of thing.

I guess what I’m just here to say is… I hope everyone’s going okay! Also, quick little roll call for MLP kins! How are you all doing? I hope your lives are full of friendship, kindness, honesty, laughter, loyalty, and generosity, even to this day.

Hello, everycreature! IIII have a slightly odd question today, but I’m sure it’ll be fine!

So, lately, I’ve realised I somewhat oscillate between mostly (at least 80%) pony and absolutely 100% pony; I’m always more pony than human, however.

The reason I’m saying this? Because today, my question for you is this: how do you feel about your species in regards to your kin identity? If you’re a human from another world, do you feel as if you’re not this species of human, or do you feel human? And if you do have any non-human kintypes, how do you feel about your species? Are you human, or something else?

Just gonna add on this, by the way: thank you so much everyone who responds to these questions… I take quite a bit of time to come up with them, and I can’t always do them due to executive function and sleeping issues. So, I really do appreciate everycreature who does their best to respond.

Dear readers of Fictionkinfessions,

Hi! It’s… been a bit, hasn’t it? Eheheh. But regardless, I’m back! And today, I’m going to talk about something else: realising who you are.

Sooo… you know how recently, Pokemon Scarlet and Violet released? Well, you see, whilst playing through the game I felt as if the place seemed familiar - and the people, too. Almost as if I was a character from the game.

Then the game finished and, well… I realised it, who I was: Penny.

Well. Probably Penny. But, regardless, I was kind of surprised, given that I’d played through the entire game before realising I may have been her (mind you, it could be a flicker, but I doubt it.

So for my question for today: How long did it take you to realise who you were kintype-wise after getting into your source (or fictive-wise after forming, maybe, if that works)?
