You know what we need? A magical girl tutorial based on anime that predate Sailor Moon. There are already quite a bit of tutorials about making a magical girl based on the formula Sailor Moon popularized and it’d be nice to see something different.

For some reason, she will go out of her way to fight Lucifer. Maybe it's hatred, maybe it isn't. Who knows...

TVD/TO and magic
While working on the next chapter of a thousand souls crossed over I have found myself trying to navigate the various types of magic that have been introduced on TVD and TO. I am trying to figure out if I have gotten it right --- and I love some feedback if I am off the mark!
So we have:
Traditional Magic: Most common use of magic, involves using channeling your own energy into making spells work. Can make users dizzy, led to nosebleeds, etc but it is the purest form of magic. (practiced by Bonnie Bennett, Shelia Bennett, Abby Bennett, Liv Parker, Luke Parker, Josette Parker, Malachai Parker)
Spirit Magic: Magic that involves channeling the spirits of the witches on the Other Side. The witches of the Other Side have a say in how the magic is used and if it is abused they may punish the user or break the connection all together (practiced by Bonnie Bennett)
Dark Magic: Drawn on malevolent powers, used to harm and goes against the Balance of Nature (practiced by Bonnie Bennett).
Kemiya as introduced on The Originals is an offshoot of dark magic because it involves turning things into dark objects to be used against one another. The wiki lists it as a type of dark magic that infuses magic and science (practiced by Kol Mikaelson, Mary Alice Claire, Davina Claire).
Expression: Powerful form of dark magic, the darkest of the dark magic. Discredited by many witches. Probably linked to sacrificial magic because in order for a user to tap into Expression, sacrifices need to be made (practiced by Bonnie Bennett).
Ancestral Magic: A more localized version of spirit magic in which witches tap into the magic of their ancestors provided they have been consecrated within an area. It can deplete over time and needs to be 'charged' through a sacrificial ritual called the The Harvest. If a witch were to leave the area where this magic is being practiced they would be rendered powerless (practiced by most New Orleans witches including Sophie Deveraux, Celeste Dubois, Davina Claire).
Sacrificial Magic: Power comes from the ritualistic sacrifice of supernatural creatures (aka vampires, wolves, other witches). The user draws energy from the sacrifices (practiced by Papa Tunde, Celeste Dubois).
Traveler Magic: Practiced solely by those in the Traveler culture after they were cursed and made incapable of using traditional magic. It is dependent on the travelers working together. Spirit possession is a notable specialty of the travelers and they use a different when creating spells (practiced by Markos, Julian, Gregor, Travelers)
