first time using the pathandpractice tag, yippee!!
today i wanted to share a few things:
- ive started reading and taking notes on “the hebrew priestess” by jill hammer and taya ma shere. i don’t fond myself particularly fond of taya’s writings within the book, its a little too goddess feminism for me, but theres definitely been some great information on jewish womens historical practices and folklore/myth.
- channukah just ended, but it was magical as ever! did a lot of gathering in community, many of whom i have found have magical approaches to judaism even if they don’t define it the same way i do. there’s just something about the magic of singing prayers like spells, being intentional in the candles you choose, talking about ancestors like judith or chava and adam, etc. and i hope to continue building this community in the coming years.
- the winter solstice also happened! its been an on-and-off kinda winter with it either being relatively warm and rainy, or harshly cold and snowy. i admittedly didn’t do much in the magical sphere for the day — rather, i took it as an opportunity to get some much needed rest. winter to me is a season of rest and retreat which can be hard to embrace in a capitalist society, so i really try to any chance i get!
those are all my updates for now, but im excited to hopefully post more here :3
