hello t, i realized i know nothing about your guy named levi, can you please tell me a bit (or a lot) about levi 🙂‍↕️

sniffs sneetly 🥺.... here is a post from my main where i give a VERY basic bit of information. i do realize now that that post doesn't make the most sense so here it is rephrased:

He is my marvel insert/oc from when I was 14 who I brought back for the sole purpose of being Doom's little henchman, and then to kiss Doom, but he can't even do that. He was used in evil science experiments by space aliens that messed up his body really bad so he's actually just a brain in a jar piloting a robot (made by doom, ty doom :D). He devoted the next chunk of his life to getting revenge at any cost! So he learned a lot about guns and fighting, a little about magic, and made a deal with Mephisto (that he kept secret for a very long time). The saying "He who seeks revenge digs two graves" held true and he died, but he was able to be brought back through science and magic! And then he kept making more mistakes for a very long time, but we love him anyway. I was just talking about sorry we're closed earlier, so here is "matilda" from the ost that is him at his worst, and then "nature boy" which i have linked before is him at his best

Personality wise, I would say that he is a lot of contradictions. He is a cynic who really does believe that a better world is possible. He can come off ummm like a quirky jerk let's say because he does things like laughs at inappropriate times and seems blasé and seems dismissive, but really he cares a lot about people and is very thoughtful + protective with those he loves. He is incredibly loyal. He doesn't even hide that he cares, he just can come off brusque with how he goes about it (especially in public. when he's alone with someone, he can be really sweet + gentle. it's a bit of a coin flip, a bit dependent on the situation). Sometimes he seems like he is trying to ragebait you to death. At other times, he comes off as masochistic. And sometimes alone in private (but where the viewer can see him in panels), he comes off as very vulnerable/scared. It's a bit of a thought experiment in how emotions might affect you/how they manifest when you can't actually feel them in your skin and muscles to express/regulate!

anywayy here is the optional longer part, the super abbreviated Levi Torres loredoc/timeline. this will not seem abbreviated but it is. i kind of want to make a carrd that has a mini summary of each arc or something, because this doesn't even mention the trial. TLDR; my little gun nut, bullets are magic

Something to keep in mind is that this is Earth-502, not the the main 616 universe, meaning most events happen a little differently than in canon. It is a marching linear line and has consequences that lead to character/world development, for better + for worse. aka characters age. There is wayyy more stuff going on with friends' ocs and changes to the world we've collectively written that are not mentioned here 🤞

it's not meant to be all about how he and doom affect each other, they very much have their own lives and the majority of levi's daily life and struggles don't center around him, it's just that these impetus moments are tied to him on account of his massive pull in levi's story. also i mostly laid out the facts but there are emotional reasons for everything #trust. okay enough we start now

Part 1

This part is longer because it sets up a lot of why's, but it is the shortest part of Levi's actual story. Levi first gets noticed by Doom when he intervenes with something going on (i never decided exactly what..eehh) and risks his life to make sure something goes according to Doom's plan. This is very suspicious for an American immigrant to be doing in Latveria, combined with the fact he has a suspicious lack of history (no degree 🗿 minimal internet presence 🗿 hardly any traceable purchases 🗿 claims to be an artist but has practically no portfolio 🗿 this is a fake identity if Doom has ever seen one) (also these are just traits about me). Doom suuuuper thinks he is a spy, and hires him to paint his portrait in order to keep him under surveillance and too busy to do obvious spy work. Levi is so very much not a spy. During these portrait sessions, because Levi insists having his model there for at least a few of them -- and promises to reveal how he can tell the bots from the genuine article once the portrait was finished -- they have some good talks. They bond in a very human way, which is something Doom doesn't do often at all. Doom likes the portrait and certainly not the portraitist but he still wants to keep this guy around. For reasons. Hasn't proved that he's a spy yet, totally. (Levi's a good + genuine hater and gets his cynicism, but still understands that there is a want for a better world behind it. He really sees the best in Doom without the "performance" of Dr. Doom and it makes Doom feel a little good.) So he is brought on to stay as a "communications officer"/"press secretary" -- a glorified social media manager and propagandist, because let's be real Doom would NEVER let anyone write a speech for him. Since they were in each other's proximity, they talked whenever time allowed, and Levi got to be as good a friend as anyone could be to someone that self obsessed, paranoid, and busy. One day, Levi gets abducted by the Skrull (who are not yet known to Earth) and used in their experimentation. A hostage negotiation happens, and he is returned, but the experiments resulted in his cell replication becoming unstable. He ossifies and splinters off and it's gross. Doom tries to save him, but it cannot be reverted in time. In the end, only his brain and eyes were salvageable before they could be affected by the serum™. They are kept alive and active, but his heart and body are gone.

Part 2

Doom rebuilds Levi a robotic body to house his remaining organs utilizing science and sorcery. His appearance and voice are illusions of his past self. After coming out of his (understandable) depression, he only cares about getting revenge on those who did this to him. He spends a lot of time learning about weaponry, beginner magic, and fighting, but he is not a genius by any definition of the word. This stretch of time includes picking fights with various heroes, studying under Doom, becoming brief friends with the Punisher before that of course falls apart, and making a deal with Mephisto. When the Skrull eventually return to Earth years later to make a fake peace treaty, Levi seizes the opportunity, stealing Doom's ship and taking it to commit a massacre in the Skrull scientists' craft. This jumpstarts what would become the Secret Invasion arc of Earth-502. The Skrull declare war, Doom declares Levi exiled, and Levi wants to disappear. He is brought in after a large attack on NYC (where else?) and it is discovered that his genetic stuff is being used in the Skrull's serum as a stabilizer. Through some bullshit via Reed Richards and Dr. Strange working together, Levi gives himself up as a willing sacrifice -- by erasing his physical matter from existence, it would take it out of the serum, and the fighting Skrull would be messed up. It works, and the Skrull's serum is now more unstable like it is in 616 canon (i think), and Levi dies again -- or maybe it's more apt to say the rest of him is finally dead? It doesn't win the war by a long shot, but it makes it winnable because the Skrull are no longer practically invincible.

Part 3 + so on

Thanks to the wording of his deal with Mephisto, Levi spends the next year in hell. The invasion is dealt with in this time. Doom, in one of his moments of clarity on matters like this, sees that he was wrong, and that Levi was not betraying him, and that he failed him by not stopping him from dying (again), and maybe realizes he misses the guy + that he's not better off without him, and gets his soul out of hell. (there will be a full comic about this eventually yayyy.) Through even more bullshit, his brain and eyes are able to be regrown and put back in another new robot body, and now additional runes bind his soul to it as well. (He's like a 50 year old car that Doom keeps putting parts in. Just let it go, buddy.) Levi has to learn what it means to be alive again now that he has no more clear drive with his revenge having been carried out. He makes some friends, kills some Nazis, but is ultimately restless and dissatisfied. This is unfortunate, given that everything that has transpired has lead to Doom growing + being more content than Levi has ever seen him. It makes him feel like things changed too much while he was obsessed with his self imposed mission/dead. Levi makes a lot of mistakes in this time too, and ultimately, he and Doom decide it's for the best if Levi leaves his side for a time -- Levi feels like he is influencing Doom for the worse and Doom feels that Levi can't find happiness in the same menial tasks and conversations that he used to (projecting a bit from his own history of fucking off to the Himalayas).

They proceed to have the messiest separation arc possible in which Levi is contacted by a Doom from another universe -- one more camp and cruel like the way his Doom used to be -- and attempts to help that one further his plans along to merge the two worlds under the assumption it would give him back his body and that he would be doing something good for the world for a change. An arc of Levi being a miserable little henchman later and the good guys winning, Levi learns to find value in this life with what he does have + that he's not the bad person he thinks he is + that he likes his Doom's newfound sense of self better (and that the other Doom killed his Levi so there was nothing to merge with in the first place). 502 is forever sealed off from multiverse fuckery at the end of this arc just because me and my friends don't love it, so we're getting any necessary multiverse stuff done at once/before this point :P. Doom and Levi are reunited and well they don't kiss because neither of them actually have lips but they are open with themselves and each other about how they like to have the other in their life now. after like 10 or 15 years.

They're not like... good perfect people. they still have bite + camp + conflict with the status quo and are willing to do things that aren't the best for their idea of greater good, they're just more open to Not Only Hating things forever. but a real hater never is off their game. i have no story past this point so the end

am curious though, what is levi’s relationship or thoughts with some of the other villains 💭 i don’t have any specifics but i am curious

hmm of the ones i can think of that he has canon interactions with:

he hates mephisto. duh. but not as much as he should tbh

he has a complicated relationship with magneto who he met because of doom's coworker status with him, where magneto has a lot of pity (sneer) for levi and levi respects him but respect from levi means he treats you like a person not like a figurehead. (doom reassures levi he is made of non-magnetic alloys. levi still worries.) but levi has this way of worming into your heart with how genuine (sometimes soft sometimes not) he can be so magneto's walls are up

namor is another one where they meet because he is doom's coworker. i imagine it is easier for levi to go underwater than most so whenever a quick trip is needed he would be the one to make it. he does think namor is pretty stupid for any scheme that involves covering the whole world in seawater because a good amount of ocean food webs involve bugs and birds. the environmental ramifications would hurt his own kingdom pretty badly. ohhhh i love environmental science. personality wise he thinks namor is funny in a dry kind of way, the same way he thinks doom is funny. namor finds levi to be good company (whenever doom is also in the room), but does not trust levi further than he can throw him (which, granted, is probably a little far)

thinks taskmaster is ANNOYYYYIIIIIIINGGGGGGGGGG he hates taskmaster. in the type of way where he just shuts down mentally and gives tony no emotional responses. does not let him live it down that he is literally tony from the bronx

likes loki. he is one of the few people levi thinks is funny in a way that isn't just dry + dramatic. that's his friend's uncle. another asgardian scaredddd he is scared of hela. that's his friend's aunt, but he is sort of dead, sort of not dead, so he generally is wary of people who deal with that type of thing. one more asgardian he LOOOVES the enchantress but she is kind of mean to him. but that is part of why he likes her, it adds to how he sees her as funny.

blanket dislike of anyone whose goal is to destroy earth/kill a lot of people. he loves the world and he loves people a whooole lot <3

i can't think of any more that i know he has interactions with.......in earth 502, some things are moved around in a vague timeline, so characters like emma frost and scarlet witch, he has a relationship with but i wouldn't really consider them villains at that point. just for you, if he were to meet sabretooth, they would get along like a house on fire but only for like 10 minutes. then i think one of them would set the other off and they would try to kill each other. a week later they would both be nonchalant about it

i was musing about going to the store today to get hot chocolate and made me wonder…. could levi consume things? like food…. or does he just. drink. oil and stuff. i mean if he did drink oil i think maya would invite him over and just heat up some oil in a mug (or i guess give him a hot mug..?) to simulate drinking hot chocolate 🙂‍↕️ just them, reed can hang with maya another day

1) get hot chocolate!!!! i know it's been cold in a lot of places lately. worth it. 2) no he cannot he has no mouth 😔 but he still likes to have a drink in his hand and just wordlessly swap it out with whoever he is talking to when theirs gets empty. it is a sweet thing to me. he also likes to pay for meals but would only be like "yeah it's whatever it's fine" if it was brought to attention. he likes to care and be a part of things in quiet ways. he would want to take maya to a bakery to get him something nice too while he's in town :D where's that one image of doom being really dramatic with his latverian credit card. that's levi buying a croissant

ok i know like levi hates reed with a burning passion. so would that hate extend to maya, my beloved s/i….? who is essentially like reed in a sense. like in terms of personality (just more blunt, but he’s still trying to have patience). but also given the fact that he’s heavily associated with reed 🤔 the val is curious and would like to play dolls

HMMM i think i would have to know more about maya, but there's a good chance he would not hate him the same way. he dislikes a lot of people who preserve the status quo but especially reed because he sees him as someone who has the ability to make a REAL change but who doesn't maximize that potential (not just that he's stretchy though that doesn't help). it's a weird love-hate thing where he really believes in him and that's why he hates him. (but if he ever saw the maker, he would take back this sentiment completely.) it's not just being associated with reed, he loves ben a lot for example but that's because ben really gets what he's going through, not that they ever talk about it

if anything, he would LOVE that maya is more blunt. he's like "you're too good for reed. here's a bottle of wine and a hand knit lambswool sweater. don't go on the 17th floor tomorrow." that being said he does still fight people he likes when the time comes.

it goes two ways then bc idk if maya has powers or if he is just a person but he would NOT ! fight him if he is not powered. i do worry that levi might scare him because he is very unintentionally dangerous, but he wouldn't want maya to worry about him hurting him. he will be killing his stupid stupid jerkhead turkey husband though </3 it's okay there r plenty of fish in the sea. but not that fish

but if he does have powers then it is fair game and levi would feel guilty if he got hurt but unfortunately levi is very stupid and destructive like that. being friends with levi is like uhmm it has the energy of From the Gallows by IDKHBTFM

the real question is if would maya hate levi for trying to kill his husband lots and being involved in doom's plots to take over da world. ☝ he does feel guilty bc reed is nice to him, but he does still keep trying to do it
