BRITISH BLOKES IN BANDS, no. 18. As I recall, @will.hopper got me this for Christmas. But @b_teddyhopper is the one who was available to join me on the night I finally played it, after my little abbreviated tour of British Music That Kind of Seems Like Direct Precursors or Acknowledged Influences on @blurofficial. This one, recorded after @damonalbarn spent time in various Asian countries, was a big high school album for Ted (all I had was ELO, Tom Petty and some 45s) (okay, there were a bunch of other high school albums but this keeps my complaint sort of trim and parallel to him having Blur and Oasis). My general conclusion is that anything Damon does (Blur and Gorillaz specifically; I haven’t followed his “solo” work) has enough melody and invention that I’ll sign up, even if sometimes I’m not sure I’m totally buying the lyrics. And with Blur, he manages to rock a lot. Then a song like Terracotta Heart is just moving and pretty. It’s Teddy’s favorite, unless his favorite is Ghost Ship. Lonesome Street, Ong Ong and Go Out are just fun. Pyongyang is mesmerizing. And the packaging! That’s how to deliver a fancy vinyl record. #blur #themagicwhip #magicwhip #ongong #terracottaheart #pyongyang #ghostship #lonesomestreet #damonalbarn #vinyl #vinylcollection #vinylcommunity #vinylfreak #vinyladdict #vinylgram #vinyljunkies #vinylgeek #vinyllover #recordplayer #vinylcollector #recordcollector #33andathird #33rpm #onmyturntable #ellipticalsoundtrack #treadmillsoundtrack #hoppervinyl #cvhoppervinyl #nowplaying #nowplayingonvinyl (at Noblesville, Indiana) https://www.instagram.com/p/B8hyee6g755/?igshid=a6auvif3d811
