Training Day || Lest & Forte

With her morning jog and patrol finished, it was time to head to a training session. Some days she trained alone, some days she had a partner. Today was a partner sort of day, and she headed toward the castle with a bit of a pep in her step. Off to collect Prince Lest for a bit of sparring. He used a different type of weapon than her, but she relished any chance to practice against a different style.

Outside his chambers she knocked on the large doors before lightly pushing in, having waited for any sign of protest. “Your Highness?” She stepped in, looking around for him. Once she caught sight of him, she bowed before continuing, “your highness, it is time for our training. Are you ready?”

Now, Claire would say she was disappointed that the magic curtains hadn't done the ol' switcheroo-- as it would have served him quite well to be under karma's thumb for once. But alas, it adorned him in delicate jewels and the whole nine miles, petals loosely decked a upon flowy skirts. Smiling softly, she wondered what would rouse him more? A laugh or-- "You look lovely, you know." Genuineness. Her voice lowered a bit, as a ghost of a smile graced her lips. Raising his-- or well, her cape, Claire swings it once across her chest as though she were some valiant prince. Should she have minded his ridiculous banter, Claire would have clicked her tongue and done something that would have suited his level of "pedigree." But no, there was a level she'd never stoop to. And that would be his. "No, no. I think I've stayed quite the same. The closet may have chosen the wardrobe, but it's the wearer that properly adorns the armor." She snickered, wondering if her eyes were fooling her or if she was truly seeing pink. That fan hid much, but not all. "It just means your pretty outfit was suited for someone like me." Bowing neatly, she held out her hand very much like a prince suitor to a maiden. Now, whether or not he'd take her hand was another story. A tale wrought with pride and bricked layers as tall as a guard tower. "Would you like me to applaud now, or after I see you strut in heels for three seconds?"

A Sa-Lad? | Lest and Ann

Working the late shift was never fun. No one to talk to, not much to do, unless someone came in late. Her dad was getting up there in years so he couldn’t stay up as late as Ann could, so she reluctantly accepted these shifts although she would rather be sleeping. Since the restaurant hours were over, all that was left was the inn. Mineral Town was a little small, so it wasn’t often that Ann expected any visitors. 

They had a policy at the inn: We shall never deny a guest, even the most ridiculous request.

In all her time here, she’s never heard of some ridiculous request, so no need to worry there. At least, she didn’t think. 

She leaned on the counter, resting her chin in her palm and doodled on a piece of scrap paper while she waited for either someone to come in or her shift to end. It had been a couple hours of doing nothing, but when the door opened at nearly the end of her shift, she couldn’t help but groan a little under her breath. It was kind of weird how someone was here this late. Surprised at this, she quickly slid her paper aside and sat upright. 

“Oh, hello! How may I help you?”
