Rina fell on her face as she tried to gather her belongings and dump them in her handbag before leaving the house. It was morning, she was supposed to go to work, but she was on the phone and to her, the call was more important than work at that moment. “I’m coming, I’m coming, I swear. Just let me call my boss.” He managed to end the call after several similar promises. She dialed Damian’s number quickly, hoping he won’t choose to ignore her call today. “Oh thankfully! Damian, I’ll be late to work. Something urgent came up.” Without further explanation, she ended this call as well and drove as fast as the traffic laws allowed her until she arrived. She looked terrible unlike her usual groomed self, the female had barely managed to wash her face and change. Yuu was there in front of her, offering her a small smile, which she greeted with a shake from her head. She entered the house and went directly to where she thought Hyosung would be and she was not mistaken. She held her friend’s hands and sat down. “Tell me, tell me everything, but calm down or I won’t understand.” After hearing the rest of the details, Rina stared blankly at her friend and the only words that left her lips were: “I don’t know what to say...”.

Dreams change

The metallic wheels responsible for moving the clock hands rotated at a slow and steady pace, but the sound of each tick felt heavier to the sleeping body in the room. It was growing closer, the combination of numbers that would summon him back from the land he’s at. The clock hands landed perfectly on two and six and the sleeping eyes fluttered open. There was no sound made, the place has been quiet ever since he slept, yet he would wake up at the same time every night lately. It wasn’t stirring from slumber that bothered him, it’s the dreams that preceded it. His dreams were rare and faceless, but lately the faces are identifiable. People he stopped thinking of or thought he had forgotten were visiting him now in his sleep. A strange thought crossed his mind. Maybe the visit Hyosung paid him unlocked Pandora box.

                            Icy Fear and Burning Anger

Surprises! Those were life’s favourite game and they were mostly unpleasant and threatening. Minwoo rushed to the meeting place after receiving several phone calls and unbelievable number of messages from the same person. He fidgeted in his place while he waited for Ryu to appear, he was not supposed to be late. They had no time to waste. It was his first time meeting the male so he recognizing in a crowd was not possible. “Finally!” Minwoo gave the other a scolding look when he appeared in front of him. Both would’ve engaged in an entertaining battle of pointless bickering if they were not in a rush. Ryu led him from one place to another, taking the strangest routes. When their discovery trip finally came to a halt, Ryu stared at the male with a pleading look. Minwoo rested his palm on ryu’s shoulder and gave it a light squeeze as if to reassure him then walked ahead. He was not even sure he could do this.

Hyosung was destructive. When people acquire power, they forget for a while the possibility of facing an enemy with more power. Hyosung underestimated her enemy and it was a grand mistake that subjected everyone she was using to danger. Every shield she used to protect Minwoo and the male himself was in danger without his knowledge. If not for Ryu’s quick briefing and a certain immortal’s help, he would’ve been caught off guard. Hyosung’s judgement was clouded and her attempts to save the day resulted in more damage, which only intensified her aggression. When he entered, he could sense it. The tension and stress were visible in every part of the room where she was. Most of what was in the room was broken and once she felt his presence, she turned abruptly to see him and that’s when he knew what was missing. The look in her eyes, it was a familiar look that he recalls from a long time ago. It was fear. Her icy silver eyes were filled with fear and anger, a terrible combination. He walked to her and pursed his lips into a sad smile. “It’s okay. We’ll manage.” He whispered to her as his arms claimed their rightful position around her body. Even if they were under attack, a shaken soldier can cause plenty of damage within the army, but a lost leader is the certain downfall for an army. Right now, Hyosung needed to calm down so she can think. He was there for her, he would put his life in danger for her. She was the only one he was willing to sacrifice himself for.

He planted a soft kiss on top of her head and rubbed her back soothingly in silence for a while, words were useless now. When she finally looked up at him, he greeted her with a reassuring smile. “We can do it.” The look on her face was all he needed, he wasn’t late. He hasn’t lost her to a mental breakdown yet. Ryu and Katrina walked in, followed by a number of other people who served her. Whether they were there for her or for Minwoo did not matter, they were going to work together. They sat down, discussed different plans, everyone had a serious look on their faces,  but not a single one of them doubted the rest and that was their strength. Whenever Hyosung seemed hesitant, Minwoo gave her hand a gentle reassuring squeeze.

The hours passed fast and it was already time to rest before they execute their plans. The agent and his witch were left alone in the room and knowing how easily she would succumb to her dark thoughts, Minwoo pulled her from her chair and pushed her gently to her bedroom. “You will have a good sleep and lead us tomorrow. Please don’t torture us with dark circles and puffy eyes.” He teased her to lighten her mood. A while later, both were lying beside each other on her bed and he was holding her hand, their fingers intertwined. “Stop thinking. Just sleep.” He whispered, attempting to not ruin the serenity of the darkness and silence dominating the room. He pressed a soft kiss on her forehead and wished her a good night then watched her fall asleep.
