Some speculation on last nights Shadowhunters episode...
So, close to the beginning of the episode we saw Maia attack Clary because she is the key to weaponising the soul sword. But is this Maia’s sole reason for attacking Clary or could it have been sparked due to jealousy of Climon? Also, does anyone else think that Climon’s relationship is really wierd - I’ve always been on the side of Sizzy, and Climon just seems slightly too incestual to me?
Is TV Maia’s backstory going to be similar to that of book Maia - the Claustrophobic aspect of her character leads me to believe it could be (possibly stemming from either the abuse from her brother/Jordan)? Further to this, Luke had knowledge of Maia’s claustrophobia so then why did he not leave a light on in the room he locked her in at least?!
Now, Magzie has been a pretty insignificant character prior to the latest episode, but now she has become a very real threat to the Shadowhunter’s because of how easily influenced by Valentine she is and how little she understands - all she wants is to get back to Iris, she has no concept that Valentine may be lying and will never give her back to her. But, on a less serious note, can we please talk about how adorable Magzie was with the hot chocolate in the cafe!!
Personally, I think that Clary’s death was done waaaayy too quickly for it to become dramatic in any way, shape or form. We skipped from one scene with Climon enjoying the stars and acting relatively somber, to suddenly Clary being about to die...? Now, I’m not one for dragging things out (*cough* Clace ftw *cough*) but to build any suspense I think it could’ve been extended for a tad longer. It also doesn’t help that freeform releases spoilers for every episode before they’re released!
I’d also like to speculate on how Aldertree is growing ever more suspicious. If this episode has done anything then it has reinforced my belief that Aldertree is probably Sebastian - and strengthened my desire to see Rizzy become a thing, although that seems doubtful as the feelings are most likely a product of the addiction as Magnus suspects.
Finally, Valentine experimented on himself with demon blood, so how if he planning on surviving when the soul sword is activated?
