Maher Sabry

Maher is an Artist and Activist from Egypt. He directed the Egyptian film “All My Life” with a gay protagonist, wich also won awards. He was also the first director to portray gay and lesbian love through lyrics in a sympathetic way on Egyptian stage. Maher was also a founding member of the “EUFS“ (Egyptian Underground Film Society) wich was founded to promote independet film making and supporting freedom of expression that wasn’t censored and restricted by Egyptian laws. After the “Cairo 52″ incident, wich was an incident where 52 gay men were arrested at a discotheque, Maher launched a campaign against anti-gay violence and abuse for the arrested men. He also appeared in a documentary called “Dangerous Living: Coming Out in the Developing World“ wich focused on the “Cairo 52″ incident.
