THIS BOOK! Holy crap, this book! I bought it just a few days ago from a local comics shop (after being delightfully surprised to find a really good sized selection of Queer books) on a whim and devoured it in the last couple of hours. This book is so important to me, but I think also socially. Even with knowing all the other non-binary folks that I do, and talking with them about similar experiences growing up, I still feel very isolated, alone, and different fairly frequently. Reading "Gender Queer" has been such a validating experience. Several times Dan came over and asked if I was alright, as I was crying. I assured him I am, I'm just so happy to see myself reflected in what I'm reading. I can relate to many of Kobabe's experiences and feelings toward eir gender and eir anxiety about how to talk to loved ones about, and how to stand up for eirself when e is misgendered. Eir desire to play around with "feminine" clothing and jewellery and makeup, but the fear that it will mean being seen as a woman and not eirself. It is just such a good book, in so many ways! All of my non-binary friends: give this a read and maybe be ready to cry. All of my ally friends: also give this a read if you want to better empathize with me and a lot of what I have felt and gone through. . . . . #bookreview #bookrecommendation #genderqueer #maiakobabe #itmademecry #nonbinary #11/10 #willreadagain #thankyou #genderfeels #validation https://www.instagram.com/p/Byf-66-gGxY/?igshid=sp0vrnkrnzia
