I really dislike when people outside of this community refer to alterhumanity as cosplaying or roleplaying. sure, there can be overlap since kinfolk can enjoy participating in those — but it's not the same thing at all. the amount of times that it has been referred to as cosplay is a few times too many for me. I may have a lot of characters that I relate to or that I associate myself with, but when it comes to my core identity, that's serious and fixed.

at the very least, whoever I was in the past really resembled the fictional characters I connect to, whether in personality or in appearance. even if I end up being wrong (or right), it's not just a coping mechanism or a fun activity for me.

He could hear Blue’s constant, soothing voice in his head. He wanted to so desperately surface, to reassure her, but each time he tried, it was as if a wall was blocking him. 

Until now. 

He found himself slowly gaining some semblance of awareness through the darkness. The familiar feeling of cold sinking into his body was... it was something he really despised.

Blinking owlishly several times, he found himself stumbling out of the healing pod, knees weak. He felt worried hands hanging on to him, hoisting him up, voices surfacing through the murky waters, and then reality seemed to crash down on him. “Ugh... what the quiznak happened? Last thing I remember is... erm... I don’t actually remember.”
