Maid Kim and Lord Park have such a great relationship arc even though it's usually played for comic relief. (and I don't really like him, she's great)

In Season 1, she asks if he would save her from Jinyowon (Right after Jang Uk saves Mu Deok) and he says he would lock her in to save the world, but it would break his heart. She scoffs and asks why he can't just flirt with her like a normal person.

But it's not just a joke to him, he is serious. He would let her die to save the world. And she does not understand how important his job is and how serious he is about it.

And then of course it actually happens in Season 2 and Lord Park is the sentimental one, allowing relics to escape because he wants to save his wife, and Maid Kim screams at him to shut the door and kill her to save the world. She has fully accepted his responsibility and morality, to the point of sacrificing herself for it.

Somehow, I love both choices. Jang Uk would let the world burn to save Naksu, Lord Park would let Maid Kim die to save it. But it works because both of them are staying true to their version of morality and both pairs accept that choice.

one thing i love about alchemy of souls is that it's a collection of all these powerful, capable men who are also such idiots, and the respective women in their lives knocking some sense into them

The fact the master Lee was the one to reveal Naksu's history to maidservant Kim which led to her giving Naksu's father his first real memorial service and she was able to mourn her father's loss and the death of her own innocence was just so heartbreakingly beautiful. Only maidservant Kim would be warm-hearted enough to give them a service and only master Lee could be understanding enough to support and compliment her for her decision, Park Jin would literally never understand. I've never had second couple second lead syndrome😭😭😭😭😭😭

If Maid Servant Kim found out how Master Lee and Master Jin treated her adopted son, Jung Uk she would fall for Master Lee in a heartbeat.

Master Jin followed along with Jung Uk’s “father” by keeping his energy locked the entire time when he could have easily unlocked it. Once his power unlocked, Master Jin wanted to banish him so he could never learn how to master his powers. When that didn’t work he tried to lock him away in Songraim forever.

Master Lee on the other hand has helped train him and unlocked his potential. He’s given him creative tasks to master each type of energy he needs. He helped him read the book and master Chisu. If going fishing and having a heart to heart isn’t father son bonding, I dunno what is.
