Process for making my Healthy Food Advertisement
Refer Post #09
The rules, techniques, methods and approaches to creating an ad are extensive and seemingly never ending. I did some research on the design rules for advertising which most definitely helped to understand the necessary considerations when trying to create an effective ad.
Looking at my product, I tried to think of what perspective I could put on it. My goal was to change kids behaviour whereby they sought out healthier options when choosing foods to eat. I thought that excitement was something that I would try and bring to the process so that kids would see the ad and want to eat fruit.
Concept locked in, next step is to think about the design. The following advertising design elements have been considered and incorporated into the final product:
Keep it Simple - The right picture and some emotive words
Include a call to action - I incorporated a QR code to take people to a website for further information
Don’t be afraid to exaggerate - fruit is awesome isn’t it?
Show don’t tell - using an image of delicious fruit is a great way to reinforce with people how good fruit is.
Keep your copy short and sharp - limited use of words focused on the key message
Be intentional about your colour - I found an image that extremely colourful to catch attention and stimulate the senses
Use Bold and Caps to make a statement
I used several software applications available to me for free to source imagery and combine words into the final product (Google, Paint, QR Code Generator and MS PowerPoint).
