Santa Fe’s famous warbonnet perhaps looked best on an Alco PA, as Mail Train 4 arrived Kansas City Union Station with PA 74, Oct. 30, 1966. An ATS (Automatic Train Stop) shoe is on the 3rd axle which enabled operating at 90-mph speed on the AT&SF.

Train No. 3 was a Kansas City To Gallup, New Mexico, mail train. At Gallup, the train would be combined with Train No. 7, the FAST MAIL EXPRESS.

Loading mail at St. Louis Inside the trainshed at St. Louis Union Station, postal workers load mail into Railway Post Office cars on Missouri Pacific train 9 in April 1958. This train made an overnight run to Kansas City and handled a lot of mail and express business. A tunnel connected the Post Office and the station, and pneumatic hoists were used as elevators between the tunnel and the platforms.
